1. Licensing & Regulatory Compliance

  • Ensure programs meet AZDHS licensing requirements
  • Prepare for and respond to AZDHS audits, inspections, and site visits
  • Track license renewals, program approvals, and corrective actions

2. Policy & Procedure Management

  • Write, review, and update AZDHS-compliant policies and procedures
  • Ensure policies align with:
  • AZ Administrative Code (AAC)
  • Client rights
  • Confidentiality (HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2 when applicable)
  • Train staff on policies and compliance changes

3. Documentation & Chart Audits

  • Review clinical records for compliance:
  • Assessments
  • Treatment plans
  • Progress notes
  • Discharge summaries
  • Ensure documentation supports medical necessity
  • Correct deficiencies before audits

4. Incident Reporting & Risk Management

  • Oversee incident reporting (injuries, grievances, medication errors)
  • Ensure timely reporting to AZDHS when required
  • Track corrective actions and follow-up

5. Staff Credentialing & Training

  • Verify licenses, certifications, background checks
  • Track mandatory training:
  • HIPAA
  • Client rights
  • Trauma-informed care
  • Cultural competency
  • Ensure staff scope of practice compliance

6. Quality Improvement (QA/QI)

  • Monitor program performance
  • Identify compliance gaps
  • Implement quality improvement plans
  • Track outcomes and corrective actions

  • Arizona Administrative Code (AAC) for your program type
  • Client Rights & Grievance Processes
  • Confidentiality laws (HIPAA + 42 CFR Part 2)
  • Mandatory reporting requirements
  • Medication management rules (if applicable)
