Position Title: Composite Designer (Security Clearance Required)

Location: Clearfield, UT (Onsite)

Job Type: Full-time (Contract Available)

Shift: C-Shift (7:00am – 7:00pm FRI, SAT, SUN; Work 36 hrs, Paid for 40 hrs)

Core Responsibilities:

Responsible for designing composite flat patterns and layups, creating 3D models and drawings, supporting manufacturing processes like fiber placement and laser projection, and managing project tasks, timelines, and communication with customers.

Activities and duties:

The following duties and responsibilities are illustrative of the primary functions of this position and are not intended to be all-inclusive:

  • Composite Manufacturing Layup Design, Producibility, Flat Pattern development support
  • Primary contact for MEM scope of work
  • Pre-cure programming support, laser projection and potentially IRD support
  • Troubleshooting laser projection issues in a manufacturing environment
  • Create 3D models, surface geometry, assemblies according to project specific inputs and requirements.
  • Communicate with customers and team members regarding project scope, change requests and milestone completions
  • Track project progress against allocated hours using sources available to ensure project initiatives are met
  • Make decisions concerning personal time management and task prioritization to deliver quality service, on time and under budget

Experience:

  • Minimum two (2) years’ experience utilizing NX and NX Fibersim or similar software.
  • Mechanical Design/Drafting experience is required.
  • Experience with Aerospace structures and component design is a plus

Knowledge, Skills and Ability:

  • Due to the nature of this work and access to controlled technical data, applicants must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident of the United States or have obtained a dual citizenship in compliance with U.S. export control regulations. No sponsorship is available at this time.
  • Secret Clearance Required
  • Composite manufacturing experience is required
  • Experience with Siemens NX or similar software required
  • Experience with Siemens NX Fibersim or similar composites design software is required
  • Experience with laser projection is a plus
  • Experience with providing manufacturing floor support is a plus
  • Ability to check manufacturing drawings to determine proper fit and function, correctness and completeness of information
  • Must have strong mechanical aptitude, good reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Knowledge of Data Management and Configuration Management principles
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Self-starter with the ability to carry out responsibilities with minimum supervision

Education / Training:

  • Minimum of Associate’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technologies, Computer Science or equivalent required experience is required

Work Environment and Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to work C-Shift (7:00am – 7:00pm FRI, SAT, SUN; Work 36 hrs, Paid for 40 hrs)
  • Work is performed in a standard office environment and involves the ability to support a manufacturing environment.
  • Work involves the ability to sit and stand for an extended period of time.
  • Ability to communicate on telephone and handle all calls in a professional and personable manner.
  • Vision must be good enough to read keyboards, computer screen, reference books, reports and other written documents
  • Ability to drive own or rental vehicle
