The Compost Operator is responsible for the daily maintenance, cleanliness, and organization of the compost facility, and equipment. Working closely with other loaders, drivers, and management, this position will ensure efficient and timely execution of tasks, including turning and building compost rows.
Duties and responsibilities:

Maintains and operates front-end loader and compost turner including greasing and routine maintenance, pre and post inspections of equipment before and after shift
- May also run skid-steers, forklifts, water truck, and motor graders
- Builds compost rows and screens product as needed
- Screens materials, mixes soil products, and loads out customers
- Maintains a clean and organized yard and equipment (including fueling and greasing) that is presentable to clients and potential customers
- Treats clients and potential clients with the utmost respect
- Communicates efficiently to drivers who are delivering materials where to drop them off to avoid costly contamination
- Reports any accidents, incidents or injuries to Operations Manager and/or Safety Manager
Physical Demands & Work Environment:

Ability to lift up to 75 lbs. (use of lifting equipment or 2-person assistance for loads over 75 lbs.)
- Frequent bending, twisting, reaching, crawling, stretching and standing

Must be able to work in all types of weather

Knowledge of compost and the composting process
- Demonstrate dependability and efficient work practices. Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Good listening skills and ability to follow verbal instructions
- Must be highly adaptable to the kinds of change that come along with working in an entrepreneurial environment
- Ability to work in and promote a team-oriented environment
- Ability to speak, read and write English. Bilingual in Spanish is helpful but not required
- Perform all duties in a safe and productive manner, and make recommendations for a safer work area
- Ensure adherence to operational policies and procedures to achieve safety objectives
- Respectful and tactful approach to all customers and employees
- Must pass background check consisting of criminal records and pre-employment drug screening and alcohol tests
- You must be willing to do things outside of your job description. All team members help and support other departments when necessary
