Compounding Pharmacy Technician

The Compounder is responsible for the physical execution of product formulations. This role involves measuring, mixing, and blending raw materials to create topical animal health products (shampoos, dental rinses, conditioners, and wipes). You will ensure every batch is produced following strict Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) to guarantee product safety and consistency.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Batch Production: Accurately weigh, measure, and mix chemical ingredients according to master batch records.
  • Equipment Operation: Operate industrial blending tanks, mixers, scales, and pumps. Perform minor equipment adjustments and troubleshooting.
  • Sanitation: Follow strict cleaning and sanitization protocols (CIP/COP) for tanks and lines to prevent cross-contamination.
  • Quality Documentation: Complete all batch records and logs with 100% accuracy, ensuring all steps are documented in real-time.
  • Material Management: Coordinate with the Raw Material Specialist to stage ingredients and ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Safety & Compliance: Adhere to all safety protocols, including the correct handling of hazardous materials and the use of required PPE.

Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate degree in a science-related field is a plus.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in chemical compounding or blending, preferably in a pharmaceutical, cosmetic, or food manufacturing environment.
  • Technical Skills: Basic math skills (conversions and percentages) and the ability to follow complex, multi-step instructions.
  • Knowledge: Familiarity with cGMP, SOPs, and Safety Data Sheets (SDS).
  • Software: Basic computer literacy for logging production data and utilizing inventory software.

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Physical Labor: Ability to lift and move up to 50 lbs consistently and maneuver heavy drums or pallets.
  • Stamina: Ability to stand and walk for the duration of a shift in a production environment.
  • Conditions: Exposure to various scents, chemicals, and varying temperatures.
  • PPE: Comfort wearing full protective gear, including respirators (if required), goggles, and suits.

Pay: $21.00 per hour
