Overview:
Balance Technology, Inc. is seeking a proficient Industrial Computer Technician to join our team, specializing in repairing industrial-grade computers and providing on-site support for field installations. As an Industrial Computer Technician, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the reliability and functionality of industrial computing systems used in Automation and Machine Tool Applications. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical skills, experience in industrial environments, and a willingness to travel for field support.
Responsibilities:
- Diagnose and repair hardware and software issues in industrial-grade computers, including ruggedized PCs and embedded systems.
- Perform routine maintenance tasks to ensure optimal performance and reliability of industrial computing systems.
- Conduct on-site installations of industrial computers and related equipment, collaborating with field engineers and clients to ensure seamless deployment.
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to field personnel, addressing issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Configure industrial computing systems according to client specifications, including hardware components, operating systems, and specialized software applications.
- Collaborate with internal teams to develop and implement custom solutions for industrial automation and control systems.
- Document repair procedures, installation processes, and technical specifications for reference purposes.
- Travel to client sites as needed to provide on-site support, including troubleshooting complex issues and performing hardware replacements or upgrades.
- Adhere to safety protocols and industry regulations while working in industrial environments, prioritizing the well-being of personnel and equipment.
- Stay informed about advancements in industrial computing technology and emerging trends, continuously updating skills and knowledge.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Computer Technician or similar role, with a focus on repairing industrial-grade computers and equipment.
- Familiarity with industrial automation systems, including PLCs, SCADA systems, and HMI interfaces.
- Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to diagnose complex technical issues in industrial environments.
- Proficiency in configuring and maintaining industrial networking equipment, such as industrial switches and routers.
- Experience with field installations and on-site support, including the ability to travel to client sites as needed.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with clients, engineers, and other stakeholders.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations related to industrial computing, such as MIL-STD-810 and IP ratings.
- Certifications in industrial automation or relevant technologies (e.g., ISA Certified Control Systems Technician) are a plus.
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field is preferred, but not required.
