Overview:
We are looking to employ an experienced
Concrete Construction Estimator
to support our teams that provide safe and successful concrete foundations and flatwork services.
The Estimator will be accountable for efficiently and effectively preparing project estimates including quantity takeoffs, material and subcontractor pricing, work item identification and productivity, and final pricing compilation.
Responsibilities:
At J.J. Barney Construction, you will have responsibilities based on the project’s needs. They will typically include, but may not be limited to:
- Follow estimating procedures with the end goal being uniformity within the department.
- Utilize bid boards and relationships to identify new estimating opportunities.
- Attend pre-bid meetings, walk-throughs, and site visits.
- Review bid requirements for projects ensuring all aspects of the project are documented and accounted for.
- Prepare quantity takeoffs, work with subs and suppliers to secure competitive pricing.
- Identify, manage, and maintain relationships with subcontractors, ensuring bids are completed timely, completely, and accurately.
- Develop and maintain working relationships with customers through direct communication.
- Properly turn over bid documents and sub/supplier buyout information to Project Manager in a timely manner (handoff meetings).
- Prepare estimates in JJB estimating software, review estimates prior to submittal, and write up estimates on JJB form letter.
- Save all estimating information to JJB master file (prints, sub/supplier pricing, takeoffs, estimate, proposal letter).
- Other duties as assigned.
Experience and Skills Required:
- Minimum of 5 years of concrete construction estimating experience.
Familiarity with concrete construction applications and processes.- Ability to read and interpret construction drawings.
- Attention to detail.
- Ability to manage several tasks at once, commit to deadlines.
- Proficiency with Bid-2-Win software, HCSS software, Sage software.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills.
- Strong work ethic with an unwavering commitment to quality and professional work.
- Ability to carefully follow written and verbal directions.
- Valid driver’s license.
