Position Summary

The Concrete Estimator is responsible for preparing accurate, timely, and competitive cost estimates for concrete construction projects. This role supports Landmark Services’ concrete division by analyzing plans and specifications, performing quantity takeoffs, pricing labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracted work, and assisting operations in securing profitable work. The estimator must understand field operations, sequencing, and constructability to ensure bids are realistic and executable.

Estimating & Preconstruction

Review plans, specifications, geotechnical reports, and bid documents for concrete scopes including:

  • Slabs on grade
  • Foundations, footings, and grade beams
  • Walls (tilt up, CMU, formed concrete)
  • Elevated slabs and structural concrete (if applicable)
  • Perform detailed quantity takeoffs for concrete, reinforcing steel, formwork, embeds, and accessories
  • Develop accurate labor, material, equipment, and production rates based on field means and methods
  • Solicit and evaluate pricing from suppliers and subcontractors
  • Prepare complete bid packages, scopes, and proposals

Cost Control & Accuracy

  • Ensure estimates align with current material pricing, labor availability, and production capabilities
  • Identify risk, exclusions, assumptions, and clarifications within each estimate
  • Maintain historical cost data and production benchmarks for continuous improvement
  • Support value engineering and alternate pricing when requested

Collaboration & Handoff

  • Coordinate with operations, project managers, and superintendents to validate constructability and sequencing
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings and job walks as required
  • Assist with project handoff from estimating to operations, including budget review and scope clarification

Administrative & Systems

  • Maintain organized estimating files and documentation
  • Track bid opportunities, due dates, and awarded projects
  • Utilize estimating software, spreadsheets, and digital plan takeoff tools efficiently

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum 3–5 years of experience in estimating concrete construction
  • Strong understanding of concrete construction means and methods
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • Proficiency in Excel and construction estimating software (e.g., PlanSwift, Bluebeam, ProEst, or similar)
  • Strong math, analytical, and organizational skills
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to meet tight bid deadlines

Preferred Qualifications

  • Field experience in concrete construction (foreman, superintendent, or carpenter background a plus)
  • Experience with Florida construction market and local pricing
  • Knowledge of ACI standards and basic building codes
  • Experience with self-perform concrete operations
