Who We Are
Downrite Engineering is an established underground utility and sitework contractor delivering deep sanitary sewer, water main, storm drainage, roadway, and concrete improvements across South Florida. Our crews build the infrastructure behind residential communities, logistics parks, and commercial developments. We are looking for a skilled, safety-focused team member to join our concrete operations.
The Role
We're hiring skilled form setters and finishers for civil flatwork — curb and gutter, sidewalks, ADA ramps, driveway aprons, and small slabs. You'll set forms to exact line and grade, place and finish concrete to a quality surface, and detail the work to specification. We welcome candidates strong in form setting, in finishing, or in both; versatile hands who can do both are especially valued.
Key Responsibilities
- Set and secure forms to precise line, grade, and slope for curb and gutter, sidewalks, ramps, aprons, and slabs.
- Check alignment, grade, and slope off stringline, hubs, and grade stakes before each pour.
- Place, screed, float, edge, joint, and finish concrete to a clean, specified surface (broom and smooth finishes).
- Install ADA detectable warning surfaces (truncated domes) and verify ramp/cross slopes.
- Strip forms and perform patching, rubbing, and surface repair as needed.
- Apply curing compounds and protect fresh concrete.
- Keep forms, tools, and the work area clean, organized, and ready for the next pour.
- Follow all work-zone, MOT, and jobsite safety procedures.
Required Qualifications
- 3+ years setting forms and/or finishing civil concrete flatwork.
- Hands-on experience with curb and gutter, sidewalks, ADA ramps, and small slabs.
- Ability to set and check line, grade, and slope off stringline and hubs.
- Quality finishing skills and attention to surface detail.
- Reliable, safety-focused, and able to keep pace with an active crew.
- Valid driver's license preferred; dependable transportation required.
Preferred Qualifications
- Versatility across both form setting and finishing.
- Familiarity with ADA / PROWAG requirements.
- Slipform / curb machine experience.
- OSHA 10/30 and work-zone / MOT awareness.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish).
Physical Requirements
- Able to perform physical labor in South Florida heat and weather year-round.
- Able to kneel, bend, lift, and maneuver forms, tools, and materials repeatedly.
- Comfortable on active jobsites and near live traffic.
