Pierson Computing Connection, Inc. (Pierson), a woman-owned company, needs PRN/as-needed help on our climate-controlled configuration production line. At Pierson, we prepare technology devices for use in schools, hospitals, and other institutions. No experience needed. Pierson provides paid training.

This is not an “IT” job. You will primarily be unboxing and boxing technology devices in a warehouse.

Salary/Wages/Hours

$17.50/hour + $40 per day per diem for overnight travel.

This is an hourly overtime-eligible position. This position is expected to work at least 20 hours a month when work is available. Overtime is possible with management

What Configuration Associates Do

The Configuration Associate configures and images laptops, tablets, and other technology to customer specifications by uploading operating systems, applications, security, software and hardware, permissions, and other settings, among other configuration services. This position also makes or assists with deliveries to Pierson customers and helps as needed in the warehouse.

  • Configure and image laptops, tables, and other technology to customer specifications
  • Complete asset tagging, wiring, and cart building
  • Unbox and repack hardware and accessories
  • Pack, palletize, and label pallets of product after production
  • Make, as a driver, or assist another driver with, deliveries to Pierson customers. This will require one overnight per month. Most travel will be day trips. Vehicles to be driven range from minivans to panel vans (example: Mercedes Sprinter Panel Van)
  • Occasionally assist in receiving and shipping of product from ground and less-than-truckload (LTL) small freight carriers
  • Meet team goals
  • Maintain a clear, safe working environment
  • Help warehouse staff with loading and unloading trucks, moving heavy boxes, inventory counts, trash collection, sorting, and disposal, order picking, and parts assembly
  • Other duties as assigned

What Competencies Configuration Associates Need

  • Possess basic math skills
  • Knowledge of basic computer, tablet, and accessory operations, including web-based application, Microsoft Outlook, Microsoft Word, Google Workspace, and QR and barcode scanners
  • Able to read proficiently, speak clearly and concisely, engage in active listening, and exercise near-vision acuity
  • Able to executive repeat fine manipulations of fingers
  • Able to use a cell phone or web-based application (HCMtoGo) to track hours worked by project
  • Able to work collaboratively in a team-oriented environment
  • Able to operate a manual pallet jack

Required Education and Experience

The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity.

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Class C (passenger vehicle) driver’s license with a clean driving record and one year of driving experience
  • Able to pass a basic math skills test encompassing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, and calculating percentages
  • Any prior experience with delivering products to customers

Preferred Education and Experience

The following requirements are job-related and consistent with business necessity.

  • Current enrollment or associate degree in a computer science or related field.
  • Two-year’s experience in a comparable position.
  • Possess a current Medical Examiner's Certificate or CDL A or B license.

Additional Eligibility Requirements

Upon offer of employment, selected candidates must pass a pre-employment drug test and Federal Criminal History, Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Record, Motor Vehicle Record, and Pennsylvania Child Abuse History background check at Pierson’s expense.

Reports To

This position reports to a Team Lead, Configuration Services.

Configuration Center Hours

  • Monday through Thursday, 6 or 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
  • Occasional Fridays, 7 to 11 a.m.
  • Must be able to work Monday through Friday, 3:30 p.m. to 12 a.m., with advance notice.
  • Some shifts may occasionally start work at 5 a.m.
  • Shifts will be no longer than 10 hours.
  • Work hours will be communicated in advance based on employee availability.
  • Work availability fluctuates throughout the year, with summer being our busiest time. Must be available to work over the summer.

This position includes a 30-minute unpaid break when working five hours or more.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Carry up to 50 pounds while walking up to 50 feet.
  • Exert up to 50 pounds of force pushing and pulling carts and pallet jacks.
  • Ability to stand and walk up to 100% of the time.

Travel

This position requires outbound travel driving/assisting with customer deliveries in a mini-van, including trips requiring one overnight stay a month occurring on a Monday through Thursday/Friday. Additional travel opportunities may be available supporting other departments.
