About the position

As the Constructability Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring electrical designs are practical, efficient, and field-ready. By blending hands-on construction experience with digital coordination tools, this role proactively identifies constructability issues, enhances design accuracy, and supports streamlined installations. This role collaborates with project teams to review electrical layouts, 3D models, and installation strategies ensuring alignment with field conditions, construction schedules, and best practices. Utilizing platforms such as Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Revit, Revizto, the Constructability Specialist helps translate design intent into actionable field solutions. This position is essential in bridging the gap between virtual design and field execution, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives and regulations.

Our Ideal Candidate

  • Has a growth mindset and is always looking to continually learn and grow.
  • Has strong knowledge of building codes as they relate to design.
  • Has strong communication skills and ability to support field electricians.

Day in the life

  • Reviews electrical drawings, layouts, and 3D models to assess constructability, field feasibility, and alignment with design intent.
  • Develops and/or reviews redlines, initial layouts, and field-driven design changes to support coordination and validate assumptions.
  • Identifies and resolves constructability issues, including conflicts, access limitations, and coordination challenges, early in the design process.
  • Recommends design adjustments that enable safer, faster, and more efficient installations, including modular and prefabricated solutions.
  • Utilizes tools such as Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Revit for clash detection, layout validation, and model enhancement.
  • Collaborates with BIM/VDC teams to integrate constructible elements and prefabrication opportunities into coordinated models (e.g., conduit racks, skids, cable trays).
  • Provides field-informed feedback during model development to align with installation workflows, prefabrication strategies, and real-world conditions.
  • Partners with project managers and prefabrication shops to plan build-ready, modular solutions that support just-in-time delivery and streamlined installation.
  • Conducts site walks to validate model assumptions, identify physical constraints, and gather as-built data.
  • Facilitates communication and feedback loops between field crews, designers, and coordinators to improve constructability and future project delivery.
  • Assesses construction sequences, installation workflows, and planning strategies for safety, efficiency, and feasibility.
  • Supports installation planning by helping develop detailed work packages, kitting strategies, and prefabrication logistics.
  • Creates and maintains documentation such as constructability reports, issue logs, prefabrication recommendations, and coordination notes.
  • Tracks and ensures resolution of constructability and coordination issues to support quality assurance and continuous improvement.
  • Promotes safe, ergonomic design practices that reduce field risk and comply with all applicable codes, standards, and company policies.
  • Leads constructability reviews and contributes to coordination meetings with cross-functional teams.
  • Identifies constructability gaps between design and field conditions and recommends practical, cost-effective solutions.
  • Contributes to project closeout deliverables by documenting lessons learned and constructability insights.
  • Supports internal training and knowledge-sharing efforts to strengthen constructability and prefabrication practices across teams.
  • Continuously seeks opportunities to improve workflows, stay current on emerging tools and methods, and prioritize constructability efforts based on project size, phase, and critical path.
  • Consistently makes decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilizes LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promotes and models the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.
