Job Description – Construction Accounting Clerk

Job Purpose
A general contractor is seeking a full-time, reliable, and detail-oriented Construction Accountant with experience in construction accounting. The role involves managing financial records, preparing reports, ensuring compliance with regulations, and supporting overall financial operations. The ideal candidate is organized, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as collaboratively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, examine, and analyze accounting records, financial statements, and reports for accuracy and compliance with standards.
  • Maintain general ledger accounts and ensure timely, accurate journal entries.
  • Perform reconciliations for bank statements, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and vendor AIA billings by job.
  • Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes.
  • Provide documentation and support during audits.
  • Process payroll, expense reports, and vendor invoices.
  • Research, track, and resolve accounting discrepancies, including short payments and credit memos.
  • Manage project-related accounting functions, including correspondence, change orders, subcontract, and contract documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of financial statements as requested by Accounting Firm.
  • Serve as liaison between executives, project managers, clients, and personnel to ensure accurate communication and efficient operations.
  • Protect the organization’s value by maintaining confidentiality of all financial information.

Skills & Qualifications

  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in SAGE, QuickBooks and Microsoft Office 365.
  • Knowledge of construction accounting practices, cost codes, and compliance standards.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing needs.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $60,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
