Construction Assistant

Full-Time, FT - Hourly / Non-Exempt Tuesday – Saturday schedule 7:30 am-3:30 pm

Job Summary

The Construction Assistant plays an integral part in helping us build new single-family homes. The Construction Assistant works with our Construction Team, assisting in the completion of construction tasks on all assigned construction projects. This position is designed to develop the Construction Assistant into a valuable member of the construction team, leading to key promotional opportunities within the department.

Responsibilities

Assist with all aspects of hands-on construction tasks, including, but not limited to: site prep, framing, drywall, flooring, and carpentry.
Assist in leading and training volunteers and homeowners on construction tasks.
Maintain site safety by adhering to construction safety policies and guidelines as well as modeling best practices.
Help with the daily pickup and delivery of tools and materials.
Set up and cleanup of project sites, as well as maintaining and organizing the warehouse.
Assumes leadership role in absence of the Construction Supervisor.
Assist in inspecting completed work to ensure it meets quality standards and project specifications.

Minimum Requirements

High School diploma or G.E.D. required
At least 18 years old or older
Minimum of 1 year of experience in residential construction
Experience operating basic construction equipment and tools, ensuring proper use and maintenance.
Valid Wisconsin Driver's License and good driving record

Preferred Qualifications

Leadership experience and interest in career development
Ability to work as a team with a diverse group of people
Strong verbal communication skills
Experience working with volunteers and/or instructing individuals

Physical Requirements

Ability to be on one's feet for extended periods, often on rough and uneven terrain
Ability to lift at least 65 pounds regularly
Ability to work on ladders and at heights up to two stories
Ability to work outside in all weather conditions

Compensation and Benefits

Full-Time, Hourly position at $17 to $21 per hour
