Construction Defect Attorney

CONSTRUCTION DEFECT LITIGATION/TRIAL EXPERIENCE PREFERED

The Houston office of a successful and growing law firm is actively searching for a mid-level attorney to round out our Construction Defect Litigation Team. We are a diverse group that values team structure, creative thinking, a structured learning environment, and a respectful work/life balance.

Candidates must be self-starters who possess the ability to work and manage a case independently and as part of a team. Excellent writing and communication skills, a strong focus on detail, and a commitment to providing excellent client service are requirements for this role. At least 4-6 years of relevant legal experience is required, preferably in construction litigation or a strong interest in transitioning into the construction defect litigation field.

Candidates

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Work case from inception to trial.
• Attend hearings, and mediations.
• Argue motions and conduct depositions of lay and expert witnesses.
• Consult with clients, opposing counsel, and the judiciary.
• Coordinate case handling with claims personnel.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Trial and/or arbitration experience preferred.
• 4 to 6 years of experience.
• Ability to run, manage, and move cases independently as necessary.
• Exposure and familiarity with construction law concepts or interest in transitioning to such.
• Experience with client communication.
• Significant pleading, deposition and discovery experience.
• Strong organizational skills, adherence to procedures, effective time management, and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills, with the capability to defend clients in various construction litigation matters.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a defense team.
• Active member in good standing of the Texas State Bar.
