POSITION SUMMARY
Spicer Group is looking to fill a full-time Construction Engineer position within our Construction Services Group. This position is available in our Cumming, Georgia office location. We are looking for an ideal candidate that can work both independently and with our team of project engineers and staff, along with a variety of clients including Department of Transportation, local road commissions, and municipalities. Our Construction Project Engineers are responsible for providing administrative and technical direction or our Construction Service Technicians, meeting with clients, frequent site visits, and working on opportunities for Spicer Group to expand and grow.

A TYPICAL DAY ON THE JOB
Employees in this position work within our Construction Services Group, which provides support to all our professional service groups in the company throughout all our offices. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Act as a liaison between clients, contractors, and project managers for the construction of municipal and private development projects. This includes communicating directly with clients, owners, and stakeholders, attending meetings, reviewing shop drawings, performing quantity take-offs, and generating preliminary cost estimates for projects.
- Observe construction work in progress to ensure compliance with specifications, review workmanship of finished installations, and maintain detailed records of contractor activities.
- Perform office technician duties such as reviewing certified payrolls, ensuring compliance with standards, generating pay estimates, and handling contract modifications.
- Conduct material testing related to grout inspection and testing, H.M.A. sampling, concrete sampling, and testing, aggregate sampling, mechanical testing of aggregates, and compaction testing for granular, aggregate, clay, and H.M.A. materials.
- Develop, hire, mentor, manage and supervising staff within Spicer’s Construction Services Group to support the growth of our Southeast operations. This also includes providing administrative and technical direction to staff and field engineers to establish a stronger presence in the area.
- Assisting with business development for construction engineering work related to State, County, and local government transportation projects.
- Assisting in the preparation of proposals, meetings with potential clients, and other business development activities.
- Developing and maintaining strong client relationships.
- Interacts with contractors and their representatives while representing Spicer Group and the contract owner.
- Provides constructability reviews, monitors projects for construction document compliance, and performs project quality assurance and quality compliance. Familiarity with Department of Transportation specifications, standard plans, and work practices is preferred.
- Conducts close-out procedures and performs post-construction services and investigations as-needed.
- Complies with all applicable safety and environmental requirements.
- Ensures all company, client, and project policies, procedures, standards, etc. are adhered to
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS- Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering
- Preferred Engineer in Training, licensed professional engineer, or ability to obtain.
- Construction inspection experience, preferably in the areas of municipal infrastructure, DOT, and Bridge Construction
- Valid driver's license
