Reports To: General ContractorCompensation: Negotiable (salary)Location: Hybrid (may be required to travel onsite to projects)

Position Summary

We’re seeking an experienced Estimator who will be responsible for producing detailed estimates for commercial and residential projects based on the construction drawings and specifications. Assist with the communication of bids and scopes of work. This position also assists to establish costs for materials, equipment, subcontracted work, production activities, requirements, and labor.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support all aspects of subcontractor and supplier estimating and bidding processes. This requires both traditional estimating and new techniques to incorporate technology.
  • Process RFP, RFQ, RFI, and internal pricing requests for self-performed work and facilitate broadcast announcement of bidding opportunities.
  • Competently draft, proof, review, and deliver both private and public proposals.
  • Work with Project Managers, Superintendents, and administrative support staff to coordinate contributions from all into proposals.
  • Qualify sub-tier bids for completeness and compliance.
  • Ensure company compliance with bidding regulations and goals of each project.
  • Develop, prepare, coordinate, and execute presentations and proposals to existing or new clients.
  • Work on multiple company bids simultaneously and deliver in accordance with deadlines objectives. This includes both residential and commercial proposals.
  • Operate and maintain proficiency in all internal estimating systems, technologies, and software.
  • Minimizes exposure and risk by implementing quality assurance controls in estimating. Promptly reports changes and issues in scope and revenue to senior management.
  • Identify and execute strategic opportunities within proposals to optimize position in securing the work.
  • Experience in performing takeoffs to generate estimates.
  • Experience in quantity-based estimating methods.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 4 years construction experience with a minimum of 3 years of estimating experience in commercial construction and residential.
  • Experience in estimating commercial and residential construction projects.
  • Able to read, understand and follow required construction documents. Must be familiar with California’s Title 24 Building Energy Efficiency Standards.
  • Proficient in construction estimating software (BlueBeam, Houzz, MS Excel).
  • Excellent written and verbal skills & strong numerical and analytical skills.
  • Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relations with clients, coworkers, and vendors.
  • Familiarity with cost control methods and financial & project management principles.
  • In depth knowledge of research and data analysis methods and estimation metrics.
  • Outstanding communication and negotiation abilities.
  • A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • An associate’s or bachelor’s degree is preferred.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $65,000.00 - $85,000.00 per year

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Altadena, CA 91001
