Construction Field Coordinator
Position summary
The Ingham County Land Bank seeks a knowledgeable, experienced, self-directed, responsible candidate with excellent communication skills, to serve as its Construction Field Coordinator. This is a hands-on position, requiring the Construction Field Coordinator to complete inspections, and help facilitate construction and rehabilitation on Land Bank properties and for Housing Trust Fund projects. The Land Bank’s office is open for business Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 4:30 pm. The position is full-time and located in Lansing, Michigan.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation for this full-time position will be $20.02 - $25.24 per hour, not to exceed forty (40) hours per week. The Land Bank will pay the employer’s share of Social Security and Medicare taxes. Sick and vacation time, 457 plan, health, vision, and dental insurance available.
Primary duties
Under the direction of the Land Bank Executive Director, the Construction Field Coordinator’s primary responsibility is to inspect and facilitate the construction and rehabilitation of the Land Bank’s property inventory and Housing Trust Fund projects. Duties include, but are not limited, to the following:

  • Inspect projects in compliance with state and local regulations and requirements, including electrical, plumbing, and mechanical aspects
  • Work and track approvals through municipal inspectors
  • Coordinate preconstruction/bid walks, in-progress visits, punch lists, and construction closeout
  • Liaise between engineers, architects, sub-contractors and others working on projects
  • Monitor progress of rehabilitation and new construction, and provide all vendors direction to ensure quality standards are being met
  • Help develop budgets and procure contractors to complete the work
  • Help prepare and manage estimates, budgets, timetables, and resources
  • Proactively identify, mitigate, and track recurring construction issues
  • Adhere to legal regulations, building & safety codes, and state & local requirements
  • Review and approve related invoices and required documentation, and update ePropertyPlus
  • Assure property maintenance for construction and rehabilitation sites, for a safe working environment
  • Review and make recommendations on potential rehabilitation projects
  • Provide walk-throughs to recent Land Bank home purchasers in order to answer questions and assure buyer’s satisfaction
  • Respond to post-purchase issues concerning Land Bank renovations and assist in developing solutions to these issues
  • Respond to work delays, emergencies, and other project disruptions
  • Hold license(s) and/or have knowledge in asbestos, hazardous materials, lead-based paint, etc
  • Connect and be a liaison with neighbors at job sites
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Applicant Requirements:

High School Diploma, some college courses, and 4-6 years of experience in construction required. Specification writing and renovation experience is desired. Knowledge of and experience in an office setting and project management. Working knowledge in Microsoft Office Suite, familiarity with a variety of internet-based platforms. Highly organized and have the ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines. Excellent teamwork, flexible, interpersonal skills, and strong communication ability.
