Job Title: Construction Manager – Fiber Internet Deployment
Position Overview:
The Construction Manager will oversee all aspects of fiber optic network construction projects, ensuring timely, cost-effective, and high-quality delivery. This role involves coordinating field crews, managing contractors, and ensuring compliance with safety standards and local regulations. The ideal candidate has experience in utility construction and a strong understanding of fiber optic installation processes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project Planning & Coordination
- Develop and manage construction schedules for fiber network builds.
- Coordinate with engineering teams to review plans and ensure constructability.
- Secure permits and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
- Construction Oversight
- Supervise underground and aerial fiber installation activities.
- Monitor contractor performance and enforce quality standards.
- Ensure adherence to safety protocols and environmental guidelines.
- Budget & Resource Management
- Track project costs and manage budgets effectively.
- Allocate resources and equipment to meet project timelines.
- Stakeholder Communication
- Serve as the primary point of contact for internal teams, contractors, and municipalities.
- Provide regular progress updates and resolve field issues promptly.
- Quality Assurance
- Conduct site inspections to verify workmanship and compliance with specifications.
- Oversee testing and validation of fiber optic infrastructure.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience in construction management, preferably in telecom or fiber optic projects.
- Knowledge of fiber installation methods (aerial, underground, microtrenching).
- Strong understanding of permitting processes and utility regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Proficiency in project management tools and MS Office Suite.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to job sites.
Preferred Skills:
- Familiarity with GIS mapping and fiber design software.
- Experience managing subcontractors and large-scale infrastructure projects.
- Understanding of splicing, testing, and OTDR analysis.
