Construction Manager

ABOUT THE JOB

As part of the development of our activities in the industrial sector, we are looking for a Construction Manager to fill one of the KEY positions on our project located in Saint Nazaire, near Nantes (France), with an expected duration of 30 months.


The Construction Manager will lead the planning and execution of construction activities within an EPCm context, ensuring the availability of specialized professionals in construction management and supervision, compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, schedule, and cost control, in accordance with the company’s EPCm governance framework.


The role involves coordinating contractors, site project team, and other stakeholders to achieve predictable outcomes and ensure successful project delivery. You will oversee constructability, site preparation, and disciplined execution of works, from mobilization through mechanical completion and commissioning.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Pre-construction and technical feasibility: Lead the definition of constructability during detail design phase to ensure the project is execution ready.
  • Execution planning and scheduling: Oversee the development and control of detailed construction schedules, ensuring field execution is aligned with deliverables, material availability, commissioning milestones, plant shutdowns, and high-risk construction activities.
  • Field supervision and interface management: Coordinate multidisciplinary contractors and site teams while ensuring compliance with permit-to-work systems, prompt resolution of technical issues, and effective interfaces with commissioning, operations, and external stakeholders.
  • Safety, quality, and compliance: Manage HSE and quality assurance, ensuring strict adherence to safety rules, inspection standards, regulatory requirements, and effective non-conformance management.
  • Progress tracking, productivity, and cost control: Ensure accurate progress measurement, productivity monitoring, validation of subcontractor payment applications, optimized resource utilization, and proactive recovery planning to maintain schedule and cost control.
  • Change, risk, and issue management: Identify and manage construction risks, enforce rigorous change control, and ensure rapid resolution and mitigation of critical issues, with clearly defined responsibilities and strong follow-up.
  • Documentation, reporting, and handover: Ensure completeness and accuracy of site documentation and reporting, while overseeing systemization, commissioning readiness, and structured handover to commissioning and operations teams.

ABOUT YOU

To be successful in this role, you should have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (Bac+3) in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in construction management on large CAPEX projects (industry, infrastructure, energy, oil & gas, etc.), with proven experience in multi-contractor (EPCM/EPC) environments and complex construction sites, whether brownfield or greenfield.
  • Experience working within a PMC governance framework or on the client side, with strong expertise in schedule control, field productivity, and quality/HSE performance.
  • Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, temporary works, heavy lifting logistics, and construction sequence. Solid understanding of codes and standards, permit-to-work systems, and familiarity with systemization/MC, commissioning, and handover documentation.
  • Proficiency in Power BI, reporting dashboards, and digital construction management tools.
  • Strong team spirit and recognized technical excellence, with the ability to work autonomously and demonstrate innovation.
  • Advanced level in French (minimum C1, preferred native) and English (minimum C1).
