Construction Manager - Level II (Juno Beach, FL)

Location: Juno Beach, FL (Onsite)

Schedule: Standard Office Hours

Duration: 12-Month Contract (W2)

Pay Rate: $48.00 - $52.00/hr







Position Summary

Our client, a leading utilities organisation, is seeking an experienced Construction Manager at Level 2 to oversee commissioning projects at their Juno Beach, FL facility. The successful candidate will lead cross-functional teams through all phases of construction and commissioning, ensuring compliance with regulatory, safety, and quality standards.




Responsibilities

  • Lead commissioning projects, ensuring compliance with regulatory and safety requirements.
  • Coordinate with engineering and construction teams to implement commissioning plans.
  • Oversee system testing, troubleshooting, and quality assurance.
  • Manage contractor performance and ensure adherence to project timelines.
  • Resolve operational issues that arise during the commissioning phase.
  • Prioritise and enforce safety protocols on the job site, ensuring compliance with regulations and industry standards.
  • Maintain a broad understanding of company policies and procedures.
  • Coordinate with engineers, contractors, and other stakeholders to ensure projects are completed effectively.
  • Perform inspections, maintain QA/QC documents, and audit construction quality, ensuring adherence to standards and specifications.
  • Maintain open communication with team members, clients, and other stakeholders throughout the project.
  • Keep detailed records of construction activities, progress reports, and safety inspections.
  • Lead and manage construction teams, including monitoring tasks, providing feedback, and resolving conflicts.
  • Apply extensive knowledge of electrical schematics, mechanical, civil, and steel structural drawings.
  • Identify and resolve issues that may arise during construction, ensuring the project stays on track.
  • Work with concrete, flat foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, and GSU containment pits.
  • Collaborate with EPC to resolve requests for information (RFIs) and change orders.
  • Perform material procurement and material take-offs.
  • Review projects after completion and report on successes, lessons learned, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Work safely near equipment energised at hazardous voltage levels.
  • Lift and carry tools, equipment, and materials in hazardous environments and across uneven ground.
  • Maintain a clean and organised work area.
  • Promote open communication with direct reports to enhance teamwork and surface issues promptly.
  • Utilise MS Office (Excel, Word, Project) and relevant specialist software for substation construction.
  • Support turnover and commissioning efforts through energisation.




Education & Experience

  • 6-10 years of experience in power plant commissioning, working with EPC Contractors, engineering firms, and equipment suppliers.
  • Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Power Generation, or a related field (or equivalent experience).




Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong understanding of engineering principles related to power plant commissioning.
  • Thorough understanding of safety regulations and practices, including the ability to identify and mitigate hazards.
  • Vast knowledge of electrical schematics, mechanical, civil, and steel structural drawings.
  • Familiarity with concrete work, flat foundations, drill piers, breaker pads, and GSU containment pits.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, Project) and potentially specialised substation construction software.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to manage stakeholder relationships at all levels.
