<Duties>
- Manage the full cycle of construction project accounting, including tracking costs, revenues, and budgets to ensure financial accuracy.
- Prepare detailed financial statements and reports that interpret project performance and support strategic decision-making.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts, bank statements, and project-specific accounts using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes related to construction activities, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Conduct variance analysis between projected budgets and actual expenses to identify discrepancies early.
- Ensure compliance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles), SOX (Sarbanes-Oxley Act), and other regulatory standards relevant to construction finance.
- Collaborate with project managers and stakeholders to forecast cash flow needs and support financial planning efforts.
- Maintain meticulous records of journal entries, account reconciliations, and audit documentation for internal review and external audits.
- Assist with regulatory reporting requirements including LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) compliance when applicable.
- Mentor junior team members in technical accounting practices such as double-entry bookkeeping, account reconciliation, and financial analysis.
<Requirements>
- Proven experience in corporate or governmental accounting with a strong understanding of construction industry financial practices.
- Proficiency in accounting software such as QuickBooks, Sage, Xero, or PeopleSoft; familiarity with Microsoft Excel for advanced financial analysis is essential.
- Knowledge of GAAP standards along with experience in SOX compliance and regulatory reporting.
- Strong understanding of technical accounting concepts including accrual accounting, journal entries, balance sheet reconciliation, and financial statement preparation.
- Experience working with LIHTC programs or non-profit accounting is a plus.
- Demonstrated ability to interpret complex financial reports and conduct detailed financial analysis.
- Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail; ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication skills for collaborating across teams and mentoring junior staff members.
