About the Position

The Project Engineer is part of the project management team that includes the project manager, project coordinator, and superintendent. The Project Engineer’s responsibilities are a sub-set of the Project Manager’s responsibilities. This role is a step/building block towards becoming a Project Manager or Assistant Project Manager. This person must be willing to be teachable and take direction well, with the willingness to take on a variety of tasks, including getting out in the field to help facilitate project needs and solve problems. IMCO is hiring for an exciting large environmental cleanup project to enhance the Bellingham Waterfront. This work is already secured and about to start construction

Job Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensuring Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) is emphasized throughout all phases of the project
  • Establishing a collaborative work environment for the project team members
  • Communicate effectively with subcontractors, suppliers, design partners, and owners
  • Demonstrate effective internal working relationships with company management, administration staff, and craft management
  • Participate in meetings with clients, contractors, and internal staff
  • Preparing written communications and reports
  • Assisting with controlling the project’s cost and schedule by ensuring that effective project controls are in place
  • Assist with pre-construction job set-up and planning
  • Support field progress tracking and develop regular reports.
  • Receive, review, forward, and track the status of submittals and RFIs
  • Maintain project records

Compensation and Benefits

  • Compensation: $80,000 - $90,000 anticipated annual salary. DOE
  • Relocation assistance may be offered for qualified candidates, based on business need and role alignment.
  • Medical, vision, and dental insurance coverage available on the first day of the month following 60 days of employment
  • 401(k) match on eligible wages and is available for eligible employees on the first of the month following 60 days of employment.
  • 100% contribution matching up to 4% of the employee-eligible wages.
  • Paid time off:
    • During your first year of employment: 10 days of PTO, prorated based on your hire date.
    • Beginning January 1, after 6 months of employment: 10 days of PTO.
    • Beginning January 1, following 6 months of employment: 15 days of PTO.
    • Beginning January 1, following 5 years of employment: 20 days of PTO annually
  • Paid holidays

Location & commitments

  • Project Location – Bellingham, Washington
  • Seasonal nights and potential weekends are required for short windows of time during the project lifespan.
  • Project scope and duration – Environmental remediation and park construction, 3-year project. Future work in the region will be available after the successful conclusion of this project.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • A minimum of two years of construction industry experience. Civil construction experience is a plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, construction management, engineering, or another relevant field from an accredited university.
  • Ability to foster collaborative relationships within IMCO and with clients and partners
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to attend to detail and work in a time-effective manner.
  • Strong technical knowledge and awareness of details to be able to recognize when technical problems are developing and implement effective solutions.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Experience with and able to navigate Microsoft Office Programs: Outlook, Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Experience with and able to navigate traditional computer file/folder structure.
  • Experience with or ability to learn multiple construction programs, including HCSS Programs and Bluebeam.
  • Experience in the construction field is required.
  • Pre-employment drug testing required.
  • Criminal background check required.
