Role Description
SYSCON is seeking a full-time, on-site Construction Project Engineer to support industrial and manufacturing construction projects throughout the United States.
The Project Engineer will assist with project coordination, document control, engineering support, quality management, and subcontractor coordination throughout all phases of construction. This role requires close collaboration with project owners, architects, engineers, subcontractors, field personnel, and the internal project team to ensure successful project execution, schedule adherence, and high-quality project delivery.
This position is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced industrial construction environment and are eager to grow within a dynamic general contracting organization.
Candidates must be willing to travel and work on project sites nationwide.
Qualifications

Strong project coordination and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment

Knowledge of construction engineering principles and industrial/manufacturing facility construction.

Experience with quality control procedures and project specification compliance

Experience managing submittals, RFIs, change documents, and project documentation.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Ability to work effectively with clients, subcontractors, vendors, field personnel, and project stakeholders

Proficiency in construction management and engineering software (Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, etc.) preferred.

Familiarity with industrial, manufacturing, or heavy commercial construction projects is strongly preferred.

OSHA safety knowledge and commitment to jobsite safety standards preferred

Ability to work in a team-oriented environment and adapt to evolving project demands

Willingness to travel and work onsite at project locations across the United States
Job Summary
-
Assist Project Managers with contract administration, subcontractor coordination, and procurement activities
-
Participate in material selection reviews and subcontractor bid evaluations using fair and consistent practices

Assist in preparing subcontract agreements, purchase orders, and change orders for Project Manager review and approval

Coordinate with project owners, architects, engineers, inspectors, consultants, and subcontractors throughout the project lifecycle

Support field operations and assist with implementation of engineering and construction plans

Manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, meeting minutes, drawing logs, and correspondence

Coordinate with architects and engineers to obtain timely responses for RFIs, submittals, and design clarifications

Verify contractor maintenance of as-built and record drawings prior to monthly progress payment approvals

Assist in preparing weekly and monthly project status reports, schedules, and progress photo documentation

Participate in project meetings and occasionally lead coordination or progress meetings

Perform field inspections to verify compliance with project specifications, drawings, quality standards, and safety requirements

Assist in resolving construction and field-related issues in a timely manner

Monitor and support proper maintenance and operation of onsite equipment

Coordinate and support field crews, subcontractors, laborers, and trade personnel as needed

Promote and maintain a strong safety culture on all project sites
