About the Job
We are seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to work alongside our project teams throughout the New York metropolitan area.
The Project Superintendent is responsible for proactive leadership and coordinating all on-site construction activities to ensure the project is executed safely, on schedule, efficiently and in accordance with contract documents and quality standards. This role serves as the primary field leader and is accountable for site operations, subcontractor coordination, safety enforcement, and daily production performance.
This role works in close partnership with the Project Manager to align field execution with project schedule, cost, and contractual objectives.
Responsibilities

Direct and manage day-to-day field operations and site logistics.
- Supervise subcontractors and field crews to ensure adherence to construction plans, specifications, and schedules.
- Coordinate sequencing of trades to maintain efficient workflow and minimize conflicts.
- Serve as the primary on-site contact for project stakeholders.
- Resolve field issues related to design interpretation, labor coordination, materials, and constructability in real time.
- Mentor and lead field personnel and Assistant Superintendents.
- Participate in onboarding and workforce planning efforts.

Promote a collaborative and professional job-site culture.

If necessary and in the absence of the Project Manager, the Superintendent will carry out the duties of the Project Manager in conjunction with the assigned project executive.
- Maintain planned labor productivity rates and minimize rework through effective field supervision and sequencing.

Monitor job site progress and coordinate critical path activities to ensure timely completion of milestones.

Implement and enforce the site-specific safety plan as required.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, company safety policies, specific project Owner safety requirements, and subcontractor safety requirements.
- Participate in safety meetings, job hazard analyses, and routine site inspections.
- Conduct all safety meetings in the absence of a safety engineer.
- Monitor labor productivity and material usage to support cost control objectives.

Help manage changing and unforeseen conditions.
Qualifications

Preferred - Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, Architecture or related field, or equivalent field experience.
- 8+ years of progressive construction experience.

4+ years in a Superintendent or supervisory field leadership role.
- Current OSHA 30 certification required.
- Valid Superintendent Licenses or ability to obtain within 12 months.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, specifications, means and methods, and safety regulations.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office and construction management platforms (e.g., Procore).

Demonstrated leadership, communication, and team management skills.
- Working knowledge of field productivity tracking and cost awareness.
Additional/Preferred Qualifications

Experience in GC or Design-Build environments.
- Heavy civil experience.

Additional safety certifications, where applicable.
- New building construction.
