We are hiring for a High Voltage Superintendent who will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating high-voltage electrical construction activities for large-scale renewable energy projects, including solar PV, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and wind facilities. This role ensures that high-voltage installation, testing, and commissioning activities are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with engineering designs, regulatory requirements, and project schedules. Serving as the Owner's on-site representative, the High Voltage Superintendent works closely with EPC contractors, electrical subcontractors, utilities, inspectors, and internal teams to coordinate field activities, monitor quality and safety, and resolve issues that could impact project performance. This role requires strong leadership in the field, deep knowledge of electrical systems and high-voltage infrastructure, and the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders in a fast-paced construction environment.
High Voltage Electrical Oversight
- Oversee installation and commissioning of high-voltage electrical systems, including substations, collection systems, transformers, switchgear, and interconnection infrastructure.
- Lead day-to-day coordination with electrical subcontractors, EPC partners, and other trades involved in electrical construction activities.
- Ensure electrical installations comply with engineering specifications, electrical codes, utility requirements, and jurisdictional standards.
- Conduct regular site inspections and field walks to monitor installation progress and proactively address potential issues.
- Oversee electrical equipment delivery, staging, storage, and installation to maintain project schedules.
Construction Coordination & Execution
- Coordinate electrical construction activities with general construction, civil, and mechanical scopes to ensure seamless project execution.
- Review work plans, construction methods, schedules, and safety procedures related to electrical scopes.
- Monitor progress against project milestones and collaborate with project leadership to address schedule challenges.
- Support pre-construction planning by reviewing project logistics, sequencing, and constructability considerations.
Quality Assurance & Compliance
- Ensure all high-voltage construction activities meet QA/QC standards, inspection and test plans (ITPs), and project specifications.
- Coordinate inspections and testing requirements with quality control teams and third-party inspectors.
- Participate in punch list reviews, mechanical completion walk-downs, and substantial completion activities.
- Identify recurring quality issues and support corrective action planning with contractors and project leadership.
- Maintain thorough documentation of site conditions, installation progress, and key project decisions.
Safety & Risk Management
- Promote and enforce a safety-first culture across all field operations.
- Verify adherence to project safety plans and OSHA regulations.
- Conduct periodic safety observations and participate in job hazard analyses.
- Identify and document risks related to electrical scopes and field operations.
- Maintain awareness of project risks and coordinate mitigation strategies with project leadership.
Contract & Field Management
- Monitor contractor performance and ensure adherence to project scopes, schedules, and contractual requirements.
- Support resolution of field issues, RFIs, and change order requests related to electrical construction activities.
- Coordinate closely with EPC contractors to maintain clear scope definitions and minimize construction gaps.
Stakeholder Coordination
- Serve as the primary on-site representative for high-voltage electrical work.
- Coordinate with utilities, EPC partners, inspectors, authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs), and project stakeholders.
- Participate in project meetings and provide updates on electrical installation progress, risks, and key milestones.
- Support compliance with energy incentives, regulatory requirements, and project permits.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead daily coordination meetings for electrical construction activities.
- Provide mentorship and technical guidance to field personnel and junior team members.
- Promote knowledge sharing across project teams to strengthen electrical construction practices.
- Support operational reviews, shutdown planning, and schedule analysis activities.
- 5+ years of experience in electrical construction with significant experience in high-voltage systems
- Experience supporting construction of renewable energy projects such as solar, BESS, or wind
- Strong knowledge of high-voltage electrical infrastructure including substations, collection systems, switchgear, transformers, and interconnection equipment
- Proven ability to coordinate electrical contractors and manage field operations on large construction projects
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint)
- Experience using Bluebeam, Adobe Acrobat, and construction scheduling tools
- OSHA 30 certification or equivalent safety training
- Willingness to travel up to 50% to project sites across the United States
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field
- PMI (PMP) or CMAA certification
- Experience with utility-scale renewable energy construction projects
- Experience working within EPC or EPCM contracting environments
- Familiarity with electrical commissioning and startup activities
- Experience with permitting and regulatory compliance processes
- Familiarity with renewable energy incentive programs such as RETA
