Construction Superintendent – Public Works (Detroit, MI)
Our firm is seeking an experienced Construction Superintendent to lead the field execution of a major public works project in the City of Detroit. This project involves the renovation of nine (9) CSO (Combined Sewer Overflow) stations throughout Detroit and the surrounding area.
This is a high-impact, 18-month project requiring strong leadership, coordination, and the ability to successfully manage work in active, operational environments.
Project Scope Includes:
- Masonry and structural concrete rehabilitation
- Specialized coatings and restoration systems
- Mechanical and electrical upgrades
- Access hatch installation and replacement
- Cleaning and rehabilitation of underground box culverts
Position Overview:
The Superintendent will be responsible for day-to-day field operations, ensuring the project is executed safely, efficiently, and in alignment with schedule and budget. This role requires a hands-on leader who can coordinate trades, communicate effectively with stakeholders, and proactively solve problems in the field.
Key Responsibilities:
- Serve as Lead Superintendent for an 18-month GLWA project, managing field operations from mobilization through closeout (in coordination with the Project Manager)
- Develop, maintain, and actively manage the project schedule
- Coordinate and oversee all subcontractors and trade partners
- Review, shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs
- Identify potential roadblocks and implement solutions to maintain project momentum
- Lead weekly (or as needed) progress meetings with subcontractors, engineers, and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality control, and project specifications
- Manage project closeout, including all required documentation and turnover
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a Construction Superintendent on commercial, industrial, or public works projects
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, scheduling, and field coordination
- Ability to read and interpret plans, specifications, and technical documents
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Highly organized, detail-oriented, and proactive
Experience in water and sewer infrastructure is not required, but is a strong plus.

Pay: $100,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
