Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Ironworker to join our construction team. The successful candidate will be responsible for installing, repairing, and maintaining structural steel and iron components on various projects. This role requires physical strength, technical expertise, and a commitment to safety. The position offers opportunities to work on diverse construction sites, contributing to the realisation of large-scale infrastructure and building projects.
Duties
- Erecting and installing steel frameworks, beams, and other structural elements according to project specifications.
- Using welding techniques to join metal components securely.
- Operating hand tools, power tools, and specialised equipment safely and efficiently.
- Interpreting blueprints, technical drawings, and schematics to ensure accurate assembly.
- Performing heavy lifting and manoeuvring of steel materials using appropriate lifting equipment.
- Assisting with masonry work, carpentry tasks, roofing installation, and other related activities as required.
- Ensuring all work complies with health and safety regulations at all times.
- Conducting routine inspections of structures during construction phases for quality assurance.
- Collaborating with other tradespeople such as masons, carpenters, and roofers to complete projects on schedule.
Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Ironworker or in a similar role within the construction industry.
- Proficiency in welding techniques and familiarity with hand tools and power tools.
- Mechanical knowledge relevant to structural assembly and maintenance.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting safely and efficiently.
- Experience with roofing, masonry, carpentry, or commercial driving is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of safety procedures and regulations related to construction work.
- Physical fitness with the ability to work at heights and in various weather conditions.
- Valid certification or licence for operating relevant machinery or vehicles is preferred but not mandatory. Candidates must demonstrate a commitment to safety standards, possess good organisational skills, and be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. - Monthly salary: 1400 – 2,200 (depending on experience and qualifications)
