job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Construction Lawyer with over 10 years of post-qualification experience to oversee legal matters related to construction and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate will provide strategic legal advice, manage complex disputes, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and contract obligations across all project phases.
Key Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate construction-related agreements (e.g., EPC, FIDIC, consultancy, subcontract agreements)
- Advise on risk allocation, contract management, and claims strategy
- Handle construction disputes, including arbitration, mediation, and litigation
- Provide legal support on project development, procurement, and execution
- Interpret and advise on standard forms such as FIDIC contracts
- Liaise with external counsel, experts, and stakeholders
- Ensure compliance with local construction laws, regulations, and industry standards
- Manage delay, disruption, variation, and payment claims
- Support contract administration and project teams with legal guidance
- Lead or assist in dispute resolution proceedings (including international arbitration)
- Conduct legal due diligence for major projects, joint ventures, and partnerships
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Law (LLB); Master’s degree (LLM) preferred
- Qualified lawyer admitted to practice in a relevant jurisdiction
- Minimum 10 years of experience in construction law (law firm or in-house)
- Strong experience with large-scale infrastructure or energy projects
- Expertise in FIDIC or other standard construction contracts
- Proven track record in dispute resolution (arbitration/litigation)
- Strong negotiation and drafting skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience in Middle East construction projects (especially GCC)
- Familiarity with international arbitration rules (e.g., ICC, LCIA)
- Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple projects
