Position Overview
The Consultant Critical Care Physician will provide senior leadership in the delivery of advanced intensive care services within a modern, internationally accredited healthcare system in Abu Dhabi. The role requires expertise in managing complex, high‑acuity patients, driving clinical excellence, and contributing to service development in a multidisciplinary environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Comprehensive management of critically ill patients: Oversight of medical, surgical, trauma, and sepsis cases in ICU and HDU settings.
- Advanced life‑support interventions: Mechanical ventilation, hemodynamic monitoring, renal replacement therapy, and complex resuscitation.
- Multidisciplinary team leadership: Collaboration with anesthesia, surgery, emergency medicine, cardiology, and allied health teams.
- Consultant‑level clinical decision‑making: Daily rounds, escalation planning, and complex case management.
- Clinical governance and quality improvement: Audit, M&M meetings, protocol development, and adherence to international ICU standards.
- Patient and family communication: Delivering clear, compassionate updates and shared decision‑making.
- Teaching and mentorship: Training residents, fellows, nurses, and critical care staff.
- Research and innovation: Participation in clinical research, ICU pathway optimisation, and evidence‑based practice.
Qualifications & Experience
- Board‑certified Consultant in Critical Care / Intensive Care Medicine (e.g., CCT, American Board, FRCA with ICU fellowship, or equivalent).
- Minimum 7–10 years post‑certification experience in adult critical care.
- Eligibility for DOH (HAAD) Consultant licensure.
- Demonstrated expertise in advanced ICU modalities including invasive monitoring and organ support.
- Experience in tertiary or quaternary care ICUs with high‑acuity case mix.
- Strong communication and leadership skills suited to diverse patient populations.
