Job Summary
We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced Consultant ICU / Critical Care Medicine Specialist to join a leading healthcare facility in Sharjah. The successful candidate will provide expert care for critically ill patients in the intensive care unit, managing complex medical and surgical cases while ensuring high standards of evidence-based and patient-centered care.
The ideal candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams to deliver advanced critical care services and support hospital emergency and rapid response systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, diagnose, and manage critically ill adult patients in the ICU.
- Provide advanced life support and critical care management for medical, surgical, trauma, and sepsis cases.
- Perform critical care procedures including intubation, central venous catheter insertion, arterial line placement, bronchoscopy, and ventilator management.
- Lead multidisciplinary ICU rounds and coordinate patient management plans.
- Collaborate with emergency medicine, anesthesiology, surgery, pulmonology, cardiology, and other specialties for integrated patient care.
- Supervise junior physicians, residents, and ICU staff where applicable.
- Ensure compliance with ICU protocols, infection control measures, and patient safety standards.
- Participate in rapid response teams, code blue management, and hospital emergency preparedness programs.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation in compliance with MOH UAE regulations and hospital policies.
- Participate in research, quality improvement initiatives, audits, and CME activities.
Qualifications & Requirements
- MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by MOH UAE.
- Board Certification / Fellowship in Critical Care Medicine, Intensive Care Medicine, Anesthesia Critical Care, or Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine.
- Valid MOH UAE Consultant License or Eligibility Letter.
- Minimum 5–7 years of post-board consultant experience in ICU/Critical Care Medicine within a tertiary care hospital.
- Certification in ACLS and other critical care certifications preferred.
- Strong expertise in ventilator management, sepsis management, and critical care procedures.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and decision-making skills.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in multidisciplinary ICUs and high-acuity tertiary care centers.
- Exposure to ECMO, advanced hemodynamic monitoring, and critical care ultrasound is an advantage.
- Academic, teaching, or research experience is preferred.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced multicultural environment.
