Retired Chief / Sheriff / Fire / EMS Leader – State Consultant

Part-Time (15–20 hrs/week) | Remote, within home state | $50/hr + 10% commission

About the Role

Opioid Training Solutions is expanding its network of State Consultants — recently retired department leaders who help connect first responder agencies in their home state with online training on Opioid Use Disorder (OUD) response. Our courses are delivered through 25+ university partners and are fully fundable through Opioid Settlement Funds available to every police, sheriff, fire, and EMS department in the country.

You will work 15–20 hours per week from home, leveraging your existing network and professional credibility to introduce departments to the program, help them secure funding, and represent us at state Chiefs' meetings and conferences. You will be assigned to your home state and work with the Regional VP who oversees that territory and alongside peers in your state.

What You'll Do

• Conduct 15–20 hours per week of outreach via phone and email to departments in your home state
• Leverage existing relationships first, then expand to cold outreach
• Attend and represent the organization at state/regional Chiefs' meetings and conferences
• Work with your Regional VP to move interested departments through funding and to close
• Maintain accurate records of outreach activity in our CRM
• Participate in weekly strategy check-ins with your Regional VP

Required Qualifications

• Retired within the last 24 months from a senior leadership role (Chief, Sheriff, Deputy Chief, Battalion Chief, or equivalent)
• Currently reside in AND retired from a department in one of the target states listed above
• Comfortable with direct outreach and peer-to-peer sales conversations
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to manage independent follow-up

Preferred

• Held a leadership position in a state Chiefs' Association or equivalent professional body
• Experience with CRM tools or spreadsheets for tracking engagement

Compensation & Support

• $50/hour base pay
• 10% commission on closed deals
• All business expenses covered — conferences, Chiefs' meeting sponsorships, travel
• Access to marketing and administrative support

Reports To

Regional Executive Vice President of Sales (assigned based on your home state)

Pay: $50.00 per hour

Expected hours: No less than 20 per week
