Consultant Ophthalmologist (Reconstructive) – Abu Dhabi

Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Ophthalmologist specializing in Reconstructive Ophthalmology to join a leading healthcare facility in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will diagnose and manage complex ophthalmic and oculoplastic conditions, perform reconstructive surgical procedures, and deliver high-quality patient-centered eye care aligned with international clinical standards.
Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose and manage ophthalmic and periocular disorders requiring reconstructive and oculoplastic intervention.
  • Perform reconstructive ophthalmic surgeries including eyelid reconstruction, lacrimal surgeries, orbital procedures, trauma reconstruction, and functional eyelid surgeries.
  • Evaluate and manage patients with orbital diseases, eyelid malpositions, tumors, facial trauma, and tear drainage disorders.
  • Provide comprehensive outpatient and inpatient ophthalmology consultations.
  • Collaborate with ENT, maxillofacial, plastic surgery, oncology, and multidisciplinary teams for complex reconstructive cases.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in compliance with DOH regulations and hospital policies.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, research, audits, and continuous medical education programs.
  • Provide patient and family counseling regarding treatment plans, surgical procedures, and postoperative care.
Qualifications & Requirements
  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree recognized by DOH Abu Dhabi.
  • Board Certification / Fellowship in Ophthalmology with subspecialty training in Oculoplastic/Reconstructive Ophthalmology.
  • Valid DOH Consultant License or Eligibility Letter in Ophthalmology.
  • Minimum 5–7 years of post-specialist experience in reconstructive ophthalmology and oculoplastic surgery.
  • Expertise in advanced reconstructive and orbital surgical procedures.
  • Strong communication and patient management skills.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience in tertiary eye care or academic medical centers.
  • Exposure to complex orbital and facial reconstructive surgeries.
  • Research and teaching experience is an advantage.
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary and multicultural healthcare environment.
