Position Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Consultant Pediatric Hematologist/Oncologist to join a leading healthcare organization in Abu Dhabi. The successful candidate will provide specialized diagnosis, treatment, and long-term management for children and adolescents with hematologic disorders and pediatric cancers.
The role requires advanced clinical expertise, a multidisciplinary approach to patient care, and a strong commitment to delivering compassionate, family-centered treatment throughout the patient journey.
Key Responsibilities
- Diagnose and manage a broad range of pediatric hematologic and oncologic conditions, including leukemia, lymphoma, solid tumors, anemia, clotting disorders, and other blood diseases.
- Develop individualized treatment plans based on patient condition, clinical protocols, and evidence-based practices.
- Administer and oversee chemotherapy, immunotherapy, transfusion therapy, and supportive care treatments.
- Coordinate care with multidisciplinary teams including pediatricians, surgeons, radiologists, pathologists, pharmacists, nurses, and allied healthcare professionals.
- Monitor patient progress, treatment response, and potential complications while adjusting management plans as required.
- Provide compassionate counseling, education, and emotional support to patients and families throughout diagnosis, treatment, and follow-up care.
- Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and medical technologies to optimize patient outcomes.
- Participate in tumor boards, departmental meetings, clinical audits, and quality improvement initiatives.
- Stay updated with advancements in pediatric hematology and oncology research, treatments, and clinical guidelines.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records in compliance with DOH regulations and hospital standards.
- Contribute to teaching, mentoring, and professional development of junior medical staff when applicable.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Medical Degree (MBBS/MD or equivalent) from a recognized institution.
- Completion of specialty training in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
- Must hold one of the following recognized qualifications: * UK Certificate of Completion of Training (CCT)
- American Board Certification
- Canadian Board Certification
- DOH Abu Dhabi License or eligibility is mandatory.
- Minimum 5 years of post-board experience in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.
- Strong expertise in pediatric cancer management, hematologic disorders, and advanced treatment protocols.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
- Compassionate and empathetic approach toward pediatric patients and families.
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced multidisciplinary healthcare environment.
- Fluency in English is mandatory; Arabic is an advantage.
Preferred Skills
- Experience in bone marrow transplantation and advanced pediatric oncology treatments.
- Background in internationally accredited hospitals or tertiary healthcare centers.
- Participation in clinical research, academic teaching, or publications is highly desirable.
