Consultant Surgeon

is responsible for providing expert surgical assessment, diagnosis, operative treatment, and post-operative care for patients within the assigned specialty. The role includes leading clinical decision-making, supervising junior staff, and contributing to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. Consultant-level postings commonly emphasize full responsibility for patient care, adherence to hospital policies, and participation in on-call duties and multidisciplinary teamwork.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess, diagnose, and manage surgical patients from consultation through follow-up.
• Perform surgical procedures within approved clinical privileges and maintain high standards of perioperative care.
• Review investigations, interpret results, and develop treatment plans.
• Conduct ward rounds, monitor patient progress, and update patients and families on treatment plans.
• Document all clinical findings, procedures, and discharge summaries accurately and promptly.
• Collaborate with anesthesiologists, intensivists, nurses, and other specialists to coordinate care.
• Supervise and support residents, fellows, nurses, and allied health staff.
• Participate in emergency response, code blue coverage, and on-call rosters as required.
• Contribute to departmental meetings, audits, quality improvement, and hospital committees.

Required Qualifications

• Medical degree with board certification or equivalent specialist qualification in surgery.
• Relevant specialty training and consultant-level experience in the chosen surgical field.
• Valid Qatar licensing eligibility or willingness to obtain the appropriate registration/approval.
• Strong diagnostic, operative, and clinical judgment skills.
• Excellent communication, teamwork, and leadership abilities.

Preferred Requirements

• Experience in a tertiary care, teaching, or government hospital setting.
• Surgical logbook or evidence of recent operative experience.
• Arabic language skills may be an advantage, though not always essential.

Pay: QAR600.00 - QAR2,000.00 per hour
