You would be responsible for diagnosing a range of conditions, including urinary and fecal incontinence, pelvic organ prolapse (e.g., of the bladder, uterus, rectum), overactive bladder, painful bladder syndrome (interstitial cystitis), and genitourinary/rectovaginal fistulas.

Conduct comprehensive evaluations, review medical histories, and perform physical and pelvic exams to identify the root cause of symptoms.

Develop and implement individualized treatment plans tailored to the patient's needs and lifestyle, starting with conservative options before moving to more invasive procedures if necessary.

Prescribe medications to manage bladder control and bowel issues.

Fit patients for vaginal pessaries to support prolapsed organs.

Recommend and work with physical therapists on pelvic floor strengthening exercises (Kegels) and biofeedback.

Advise on lifestyle changes, such as diet modifications, weight management, and bladder retraining.

Perform in-office procedures like Botox injections or nerve stimulation for bladder issues.

Perform a wide array of minimally invasive and complex reconstructive surgeries to restore normal anatomy and function, including:

  • Sling procedures for stress urinary incontinence.
  • Vaginal wall and pelvic organ prolapse repairs (e.g., using native tissue or supportive materials).
  • Robotic or laparoscopic surgery for pelvic organ repositioning (e.g., sacrocolpopexy).
  • Repair of birth injuries and fistulas.

Work within a multidisciplinary healthcare team, consulting with primary care physicians, urologists, colorectal surgeons, and physical therapists to ensure holistic patient care.

Maintain accurate and detailed medical records.

Participate in patient education, mentor medical students/residents, conduct clinical research, and stay current with advances in the field.
