TITLE:
Consumer Research-Data Scientists
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Consumer Research-Data Scientist will be responsible for gathering consumer insights, market research data from third party providers, and use analytics to help product development peers enhance product development through data-driven and consumer-focused methodologies. This role will require knowledge of consumer research methodologies, statistical methods, data analysis, and working collaboratively with cross-functional teams. The ideal candidate will help leverage data to help drive effective development and decision making.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Drive Consumer-Focused Research:

Design and lead testing plans, including questionnaire & survey instrument development and programming.

Administer surveys, focus groups, and analyze data and consumer sentiment to identify strengths and areas for improvement.

Work with cross functional stakeholders to implement actionable insights from analyses.
-
Prepare reports summarizing test results and insights for stakeholders.

Own Data Insights and Innovation:
-
Collect and analyze data to identify consumer preferences.
-
Build models and draw statistically relevant insights using methodologies like regression, decision trees, CART, difference tests, KANO modelling, and text analyses.
-
Support in creating dashboards and reports using tools such as Tableau and Power BI to visualize actionable insights.
-
Help integrate data from multiple sources to provide comprehensive insights that can influence product innovation strategies.

Collaborate with marketing, product, and business teams to apply insights for product development.

Introduce New Research Methodologies and Techniques:
-
Implement new statistical research methods to extract actionable insights.
-
Use tools like R, Python, SAS, and SPSS to generate models and visualizations.
-
Keep updated on industry trends and best practices in consumer research.
-
Collaborate with teams to help refine research techniques and optimize data collection and analysis.

Implement new qual-quant and triangulated research frameworks.

Collaborate across functions:
-
Advise on statistical methods, data analysis tools, and research techniques.
-
Assist in maintaining and updating the research database, ensuring data accuracy and accessibility.
-
Contribute to developing data entry protocols and guidelines to standardize data collection and maintain data quality.
-
Assist in coordinating consumer sensory research projects with marketing.
-
Support in streamlining research processes and enhancing the analytical capabilities of the team.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Consumer Testing & Research Methodologies:-
Knowledge of consumer testing methodologies, including qualitative, quantitative, and mixed methods research.

Ability to design and execute detailed testing plans, recruit participants, and analyze results to identify product insights.

Skill in managing large-scale consumer studies and using insights to inform product development.

Data Analysis & Predictive Modeling:
-
Knowledge of advanced statistical methods, such as regression, classification & regression trees, NLP, feature selection, predictive modelling, cluster analysis, sentiment analysis, including an understanding of data ethics. Knowledge of applying research methodologies to a diverse range of problems and use cases.

Ability to collect, analyze, and derive statistically relevant insights from high noise data and large datasets using statistical tools such as R, Python, SAS, and SPSS.

Skill in developing predictive models and algorithms for forecasting consumer behavior and market trends.

Data Visualization & Reporting:
-
Knowledge of data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, SAS Viya, Power BI) and their application in presenting data insights.

Ability to create actionable dashboards and reports that communicate complex data to stakeholders.

Skill in integrating multiple data sources and using visualization tools to drive data-driven decision-making.

Research Database Management:
-
Knowledge of database management and best practices for data integrity and security.

Ability to maintain and update databases, develop data entry protocols, and ensure consistent data quality.

Skill in database querying and reporting to generate actionable insights from research data.

Project Management:
-
Knowledge of project management fundamentals.
-
Ability to track and dashboard multiple projects using project management software such as SmartSheet, JIRA, or similar tools.

Skill in managing multiple moving parts of projects.
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
Master’s degree (or foreign equiv.) in Quantitative Management, Data Science, Statistics, Business Analytics, Mathematics, or a related field, with coursework/assignments that demonstrate the listed knowledge, skills and abilities. Alternatively, Employer will also accept a Bachelor’s degree [or foreign equiv.] in one of the above fields of study with 3 years of experience in the job offered demonstrating the listed knowledge, skills and abilities.
