Coastal Maine Botanical Gardens is hiring a Content and Creative Specialist!

This is a full-time, year-round, benefits-eligible position. Some night and weekend work is required for special events and during Gardens Aglow.
$25.00 - 28.00 hourly, non-exempt
The Content and Creative Specialist provides the tactical creative operations of marketing and communications initiatives across all Gardens' channels, maintaining and deepening the Gardens' brand. A standard day in the office will involve:

Creating and deploying content on the Gardens’ website, social media accounts, email, and other digital channels.

Gathering stories from colleagues and other subject matter experts through interviews, photography, and video, and translating them for multiple channels.

Keeping all creative assets organized and accessible to stakeholders.
Primary Functions:

Create and publish creative, engaging content for all digital platforms: social channels, email, website, and blogs.

Collaborate with the Marketing & Communications Manager and Marketing Operations Specialist to maintain and update the content calendar, considering key mission content and annual programming calendar.

Gather and edit images and videos throughout the season, aligning with mission-related, programming, and revenue priorities.

Day-to-day management of digital asset management tool, including building and documenting processes through SOPs.

Design branded, visually compelling graphic design materials, including graphics, signage, and flyers to support organizational needs.

Day-to-day management of the Gardens’ social media accounts, including scheduling posts, monitoring engagement, and providing responsive guest service by answering questions, messages, and comments.

With the Marketing & Communications Manager, collaborate on paid digital and social media strategies to deliver ads and relevant content to targeted audiences, including campaign themes, keywords, creative, and website optimization.

As part of the Marketing team, work with departments across the organization to understand their content and graphic needs for various projects and develop a communications plan, working with stakeholders for feedback and balancing priorities and workload to help achieve organizational goals.

Participate in daily administrative tasks for the Marketing team to increase office efficiency, strengthen marketing campaigns, and build a strong team culture.
Physical Requirements:

This is a largely sedentary job requiring repetitive computer use and standard visual acuity.

This role also includes periodic movement throughout the Gardens in variable outdoor conditions.

Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, or a related field, OR 3+ years of commensurate experience alongside multiple departments and stakeholders.

Proficiency with Canva, Adobe-based editing programs (Lightroom, Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign), or similar tools.

Strong written communication skills, including copyediting, with ability to translate environmental or plant science topics into relatable narratives that center target audiences.

Strong photography and editing skills.

Comfort with creating videography for social channels (Reels).

Experience with social media publishing software, such as StatusBrew.

Comfortable working in Windows Microsoft Office 365 and WordPress.

Ability to navigate a mix of structured, repeatable projects and quick turnaround or ambiguous needs while maintaining deadlines.

Detail-oriented with excellent visual eye, and able to build content for various mediums within brand guidelines.

Resourceful and solutions-oriented, able to troubleshoot challenges in content production, scheduling, and cross-department collaboration.

Interest in plants, gardens, and the natural world a plus.
