TechTown is Wayne State University’s entrepreneurship hub. We empower Detroit-based startups and local businesses by providing resources, collaborative workspace, and education for entrepreneurs that will further accelerate inclusive economic development across Detroit. TechTown is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting tech founders and small business owners by providing resources, mentorship, and access to capital. Our purpose is to empower entrepreneurs to grow thriving businesses that strengthen local economies and create lasting impact.

About the Opportunity:

We're looking for a Content Marketing Manager to be our lead storyteller. This role is a unique blend of creativity and strategy, blending marketing expertise with community-focused storytelling. You'll amplify our mission and programs, telling the powerful stories of the entrepreneurs we serve, and expanding our reach to connect with founders, funders, and partners.

The Impact You Will Make:

  • Develop and execute a content strategy that highlights our mission, programs, and the success stories of entrepreneurs.
  • Manage and grow our presence across social media, newsletters, blogs, and community channels.
  • Create compelling written, visual, and multimedia content using Adobe Creative Suite and Canva.
  • Translate complex topics (entrepreneurship, funding, business growth) into accessible, inspiring stories.
  • Partner with program staff to ensure events, workshops, and initiatives are effectively promoted and documented.
  • Build and maintain an editorial calendar to ensure consistent storytelling and outreach.
  • Monitor content performance, track metrics, and make data-informed recommendations for improvement.
  • Support community engagement through campaigns, events, and partnerships.
Requirements:

What You'll Bring:

  • 3-5 years of experience in content marketing, communications, or nonprofit storytelling.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills with a passion for elevating diverse voices and entrepreneurial journeys.
  • Hands-on experience with social media management tools (like Hootsuite or Buffer), email marketing platforms, and content management systems (CMS).
  • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, Premiere) and Canva.
  • A strong understanding of how to use analytics and reporting tools to measure and optimize content performance.
  • A passion for our mission and an understanding of the entrepreneurial ecosystem.
  • A blend of creativity and a data-driven approach.
  • A natural ability to connect with and engage diverse audiences.
  • Curiosity and a willingness to experiment with new content formats and platforms.

Salary:

The budgeted salary range for this position starts at $57,500 and may be adjusted according to qualifications and experience.

Work Arrangements:

This role follows a hybrid schedule with three days in the office each week. Please note that business needs may occasionally require additional in-office days for mandatory meetings or other operational demands.
