About the Position:
Canature WaterGroup™ is growing! We are looking for driven, talented, and personable individuals to join our team. We are seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Continuous Improvement Engineer to join our team. In this role, you will drive manufacturing efficiency, optimize processes and assist in implementing innovative solutions across our production facilities. Your expertise will help enhance product quality, reduce waste and support our goal of continuous growth and excellence in the water treatment industry.
Reporting to the Vice President of Operations & Engineering, this position is responsible to support the assembly of water softeners and other related water treatment systems and components. This is a highly hand on role focusing on improving quality, assembly processes and workforce capability through practical and consistent engagement on the warehouse floor. This position is expected to work directly on the warehouse floor to identify inefficiencies, eliminate waste, reduce defects and assist in the implementation of sustainable process improvements as well as structured training programs all focusing on the goal of enhanced customer satisfaction and manufacturing efficiency and accuracy. This position is equally comfortable troubleshooting a valve assembly issue as they are coaching employees on standardized work and quality best practices. This player / coach role connects people, data and processes and turns issues into improvements and preventing problems before they happen.
Some specifics tasks this role is responsible for includes:
- Drive continuous improvement activities and initiatives across assembly, testing and packaging of equipment using Lean manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Work directly on the floor to identify defects, inefficiencies and variability in processes such as resin filling, valve assembly, leak testing, final inspection, equipment calibration and shipping processes.
- Identify process inefficiencies and implement practical, hands-on solutions to improve throughput and quality
- Facilitate root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone) and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA)
- Partner closely with production teams to implement and facilitate Kaizen events and foster a culture of continuous improvement on the shop floor
- Develop and deliver hands-on training for employees on assembly techniques, quality standards and troubleshooting methods
- Create and maintain standardized work instructions, visual aids and process documentation and SOPs
- Analyze process and quality data to drive data-based improvements and monitor process stability (SPC)
- Ensure compliance with applicable standards and internal quality requirements
- Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) such as defect rates, reduction in warranty claims and field failures, assembly defects, shipping errors and others
- Support supplier quality and incoming inspection for critical components (valves, tanks, control heads, fittings)
- Conduct layered process audits and product inspections to ensure adherence to quality standards
About you:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, Manufacturing or related Engineering field
- 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing quality or process improvement / engineering role
- Demonstrated success in leading continuous improvement initiatives ina a production environment
- Strong hand-on experience with assembly and manufacturing processes
- Proficiency in Lean tools (kaizen, 5S, value stream mapping) and Six Sigma methodologies
- Demonstrated experience in process autorotation and efficiency optimization
- Ability to travel internationally: Canada, USA and Mexico (5-10%)
- Continuous improvement mindset with a bias for action
- Demonstrated experience in process optimization and trouble shooting
- Understanding of production systems and work flows
- Hands-on problem solving and mechanical aptitude
- Strong analytical and data driven decision making skills
- Ability to lead change and influence warehouse teams

- Excellent IT and technical skills
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft office suite of products

About the work environment:
- Works within a warehouse environment. Can be subject to heat / cold temperature fluctuations, noise and dust
- May spend prolonged periods of sitting at a desk working on a computer or standing and walking as determined by the day and the tasks or project at hand.
- Some international business travel is required (overnight) – Mexico, USA, Canada
- Focus and concentration are required to mitigate risk and errors and ensure initiatives are implemented per business objectives
- Ability to push/pull/lift up to 50lbs on rare occasions
- Frequent manipulation of small items/parts required for product assembly
- Occasionally, may be required to climb a rolling staircase ladder
- Frequent bending, stooping and knelling
