The Role

We need an experienced medical biller who can step into Athena and be productive immediately. This 4-week contract covers billing and charge management—submitting clean claims, posting payments, and resolving rejections—along with direct patient financial communication.

Key Responsibilities

• Perform accurate charge entry and submit clean claims for insurance and self-pay services
• Correct claim rejections promptly and resubmit
• Post payments, review EOBs, and resolve unapplied or unpostable payments
• Review missing charge slips and the Athena hold bucket daily
• Contact patients proactively regarding balances and explain payment options with clarity and compassion
• Respond to patient billing inquiries within 24 hours
• Maintain HIPAA compliance throughout all billing activities

What We’re Looking For

• Hands-on Athena Health experience — required, no ramp-up time available
• Proven medical billing background including charge entry, claims submission, and payment posting
• Strong communication skills for patient-facing financial conversations
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to work independently
• Psychiatric or specialty practice experience a plus

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
