Job Overview
We are seeking dynamic and detail-oriented Contract Attorneys to assist our office with pretrial hearings related to class c misdemeanors that are filed in municipal and justice courts across North Texas. Cases can range from traffic related offenses to assault, thefts, public intoxication and disorderly conduct citations.

Duties
- Attending court hearings in municipal courts across North Texas.
- Attending court hearings in justice of the peace courts across North Texas.
- Working with the firm's legal assistants and attorneys to provide competent hearing coverage for criminal proceedings involving class c misdemeanors.
- Understanding of the pretrial hearing process as it relates to justice and municipal hearings for criminal cases.
- Assist in the preparation of criminal hearing dockets including preparing proof for hearings, outlining and defining a client's goals and expectations as it relates to those hearings.
- Maintain organized records of all contract activities and hearing information for audit purposes.
- Support the legal administrative team by managing document workflows.
- Discussing current status of cases to clients as it relates to their specific matter.
Experience
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
- Admission to the state bar in good standing is required.
- Demonstrated expertise in legal research tools including LexisNexis and Westlaw.
- Strong writing skills with an ability to draft clear notes for the firm's staff and clients to understand.
- Ability to conduct negotiations with municipal and justice of the peace prosecutors to obtain the best possible outcome for our clients.
- Prior work in a law office setting or legal department is preferred, but not required.
- Knowledge of legal administrative processes and record-keeping best practices.
