Zelus Consulting, LLC is seeking a deeply experienced Clinical Operations Expert for a high-impact contract training engagement. We are looking for a "practitioner-educator" - someone who has spent years in the trenches of clinical operations and possesses the gravitas to train and consult with everyone from Utilization Management (UM) Coordinators to senior Medical Directors.

The Role: You will be responsible for delivering a specialized curriculum within a Medicaid/Healthcare environment. The successful candidate will not only master our specific content but will serve as an authoritative resource, capable of answering complex, unscripted questions regarding clinical workflows, regulatory nuances, and operational best practices that fall outside the immediate scope of the curriculum.

The first two weeks of the engagement will be learning the curriculum, conducting teach backs, and understanding the role of and expectations of the trainee. This will be followed by 4-8 weeks of training in a remote environment on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. You’ll be assisted by a technical coordinator that will manage the Teams environment and support with tracking attendance and participation, etc. You will need to demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to adapt when things don’t go as planned, and a willingness to receive feedback from the client for the success of the program.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Expert Facilitation: Lead high-level training sessions for diverse clinical audiences, including tenured Nurses and Doctors remotely.
  • Knowledge Leadership: Act as a credible Subject Matter Expert (SME), providing "real-world" context to curriculum and fielding technical operational questions from senior clinical leadership.
  • Curriculum Contextualization: Translate complex Medicaid and Clinical Operations workflows into actionable insights for roles spanning the entire organizational hierarchy.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build immediate rapport and professional respect with clinical staff through demonstrated field expertise.
  • Learn Quickly and Demonstrate Knowledge: Become familiar with all aspects of the curriculum and tools such as facilitator guide, participant materials, activity guide, knowledge base tools, etc., and demonstrate an ability to facilitate the curriculum via teach-backs.
  • Transfer of Knowledge: Create a learning environment in which the participants can master the curriculum by applying adult learning principles and carefully following the curriculum agenda and the facilitator guide
  • Classroom Management: Establish and maintain authority in classroom. Monitor participants’ performance through careful observation and questioning. Address issues that are disruptive to the learning environment by enforcing attendance policies and escalating potential HR issues

Candidate Qualifications:

  • Extensive Field Experience: 10+ years of direct experience in Clinical Operations (Required). We value "boots-on-the-ground" expertise over specific degrees.
  • Healthcare/Medicaid Fluency: Deep familiarity with the Medicaid landscape, specifically around Utilization Management, clinical documentation, and healthcare administration.
  • Gravitas: Proven ability to command the respect of tenured MDs and RNs. You must be able to speak their language and understand their daily operational pressures.
  • Training Background: Demonstrated experience delivering training or professional development specifically to clinical teams.
  • Adaptability: Ability to pivot between foundational training for junior staff and high-level strategic discussion with Medical Directors.

Job Type: Contract

Pay: $50.00 - $70.00 per hour

Expected hours: 12 – 24 per week
