Contract Design Assistant

ABOUT THE STUDIO

DL Interior Studio is a full-service residential interior design firm based in Washington, DC, serving clients throughout the DC/MD/VA area. We are a boutique, detail-driven studio known for elevated design and a highly personalized client experience. We are growing and looking for a dependable, design-minded assistant to support our principal designer on a contracted, project-based basis.

ROLE OVERVIEW

This is a contract, project-based position. Hours vary by project phase and season. You will work directly alongside our Creative Director to support active residential design projects from site visits and installations to sourcing and administrative tasks. The ideal candidate is professional, proactive, and passionate about interior design.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Assist with on-site visits, client walkthroughs, and installations
• Transport, receive, and organize furniture, decor, and materials
• Support procurement processes, vendor pickups, and deliveries
• Assist with space styling, product sourcing research, and mood board preparation
• Provide administrative support via Client Portal, scheduling, and client communications
• Maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality with all clients

REQUIREMENTS

• Must be local to the DC / MD / VA area
• Reliable personal vehicle and valid driver’s license required
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
• Professional demeanor and comfort working in clients’ homes
• Bachelor's degree in Interior Design, Architecture, or a related field
• Minimum 1 year of hands-on interior design experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

• Background or education in interior design, architecture, or a related field
• Experience with Mydoma, Canva, or similar project management tools
• Familiarity with residential design processes and trade vendors
• Strong aesthetic sensibility and eye for design detail

Pay: $18.75 - $25.00 per hour
