A boutique Berkeley, CA law practice is seeking an experienced Contract Trust Administration Attorney to support a growing trusts & estates practice.
Responsibilities
- Attend and lead trust administration client consultations (via Zoom or in person in Berkeley).
- Review trust documents, inventories, and accountings; advise on administration process and compliance with California law.
- Draft, review, and redline trust administration correspondence, notices, and petitions.
- Track and advise on all compliance requirements, statutory notices, and deadlines under the California Probate Code.
- Approve final versions of documents for delivery to clients and beneficiaries.
- Provide practical guidance on timelines, fiduciary duties, and tax considerations.
- Participate in occasional in-person client signings or meetings in Berkeley.
Qualifications
- J.D. and active license to practice law in California.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience handling trust administrations (simple and complex).
- Strong knowledge of California Probate Code and trust accounting requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, with ability to explain fiduciary obligations in plain language.
- Friendly, reliable, and easy to collaborate with.
Compensation
- Contract position: $100–$150 per hour, depending on experience.
- Alternative flat-fee arrangements available for specific projects.
- Primarily remote work with flexibility.
