The Illinois Association of School Personnel Administrators (IASPA) is a statewide professional association serving human resources leaders in Illinois school districts. IASPA is committed to professional growth, strategic leadership, and member engagement.

Position Summary

IASPA seeks a skilled Communications Coordinator to strengthen and unify the Association’s brand, messaging, and digital presence. This professional will ensure IASPA communicates with clarity, professionalism, and consistency across all platforms.

This is a contracted position (approximately one-third time) ideal for an experienced communications professional seeking flexible, meaningful work. This is a perfect “side hustle” for a skilled professional.

$25,000 Annual Contract (1099)

Reports to: Director of Operations

Location: Remote (Illinois preferred)

Key Responsibilities

Weekly & Mass Communications

  • Produce and distribute IASPA This Week
  • Develop and maintain a communications calendar
  • Segment messaging to reduce information overload
  • Ensure clarity, accessibility, and professional presentation

Website Strategy & Management

  • Oversee strategic management of the IASPA website
  • Ensure content remains current, accessible, and member-centered
  • Strengthen the website as IASPA’s primary communication hub

Marketing & Event Communications

Develop materials for:

  • Annual Conference
  • HR Essentials
  • Spring Summit
  • Membership drives
  • HR Reviews
  • Additional IASPA initiatives

Brand Stewardship & Risk Management

  • Maintain consistent branding and terminology
  • Ensure professional quality in all external-facing materials
  • Establish review processes for accuracy and tone

Strategic Messaging & Organizational Voice

  • Align all communications with IASPA’s mission, values, and strategic priorities
  • Translate leadership decisions into clear, member-focused messaging
  • Maintain a consistent tone and voice across platforms

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, or related field
  • 3–5+ years of professional communications experience
  • Website management experience (WordPress or similar CMS preferred)
  • Newsletter production and email marketing platform experience
  • Graphic design proficiency (Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar)
  • Experience in associations, nonprofits, or education organizations preferred
  • Accreditation in Public Relations (APR) or similar credential valued but not required

Compensation

$25,000 annual contract. Scope and expectations will be clearly defined in the contract agreement.
