Contracted Non-Profit Finance Manager

Overview
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Contracted Non-Profit Finance Manager to lead financial operations within a mission-driven organization. This position is ideal for someone with nonprofit accounting experience who is comfortable managing day-to-day financial processes independently using QuickBooks Online and supporting annual audit preparation. As a key member of the financial leadership team, you will oversee accounting functions, ensure compliance with regulatory standards, and contribute to sustainable growth through sound fiscal management. This position is contract-based, offering flexibility while maintaining a focus on impactful financial stewardship for the non-profit sector.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate is reliable, proactive, and comfortable handling recurring financial tasks with minimal supervision. Experience working with nonprofit organizations and understanding nonprofit financial processes, including annual audit preparation, is highly valued.

Duties

  • Manage accounts payable and ensure timely vendor payments
  • Process accounts receivable and maintain accurate records
  • Support invoicing process and systems in place through QuickBooks
  • Administer payroll through QuickBooks Online including tax withholdings, benefit deductions and payments.
  • Reconcile bank and financial accounts regularly
  • Maintain organized financial documentation and reporting
  • Assist leadership with financial tracking and budget monitoring
  • Prepare and organize financial records, reports, and supporting documents for annual audits
  • Serve as key point of coordination during the yearly audit process and work directly with the auditing firm as needed
  • Ensure accuracy, confidentiality, and compliance with nonprofit financial practices

Skills

  • Experience with nonprofit bookkeeping or financial management preferred
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks Online required
  • Experience processing payroll independently
  • Experience preparing financial records and documentation for annual audits strongly preferred
  • Ability to organize and present financial data clearly for external auditors
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to manage deadlines and work independently
  • Excellent communication and problem solving abilities

Pay: $23.00 - $27.00 per hour

Work Location: Hybrid remote in Grand Rapids, MI 49548
