The Denver Museum of Nature & Science is looking for a Contracts Attorney to join our team! Curiosity and a passion for learning is a must in this position because we are always doing something new and the variety of endeavors is endless! This position has the unique opportunity to touch every facet of the Museum such as science, temporary exhibitions, complex facilities issues, content creation and so much more.
This position is responsible for the contract management process including legal review, analysis, and counsel, as well as negotiation and document management on all contracts and legal agreements that are entered into on behalf of the Museum. This position may on occasion provide general guidance on other legal issues as they arise in the course of business.
This position does not act as general counsel for the Museum.

$56 - $60/Hour

Essential Duties

Provides timely review of contracts.

Researches and analyzes potential risks involved with specific contract terms and provides recommendations or negotiates alternative solutions.

Develops and maintains template contract library for internal use as needed.

Assists with review of contracts prepared by third parties and provides suggestions for revisions to protect the Museum’s interest.

Provides training in an easy to understand manner on legal issues, and keeps relevant staff informed of legal compliance related trainings when they are offered.

Provides guidance on other legal matters on a case-by-case basis upon request and with VP approval and refers outside legal counsel and may coordinate engagement as needed.
Minimum Qualifications/Requirements

J.D degree, and licensed to practice in the State of Colorado.

3 years’ experience as in-house or staff attorney.

3 years’ experience in contract experience.
Ideal Candidate Will Be/Have

Experience working on 501(c) (3) organizational matters.

Experience working with local governments.
