We are recruiting on behalf of a leading UAE-based Main Contractor seeking an exceptional Contracts Engineer to fortify their commercial and contractual position across diverse projects. This high-impact role within the Commercial/Contracts Department is critical to safeguarding the company's financial interests and managing project risk from pre-award through close-out.

We need a diligent professional with deep expertise in contract administration, meticulous documentation, and compliance with standard contract forms.

Key Role Purpose: Contractual and Commercial Safeguard

The Contracts Engineer will be responsible for administering and safeguarding the company's contractual and commercial position throughout the project lifecycle. This includes pre-award reviews, robust post-award administration, change management, and claims defense.

Your mission is to ensure full compliance with FIDIC and other contract conditions, guaranteeing the issuance of timely notices and maintaining accurate documentation that effectively protects cost, schedule, and manages commercial risk.

Core Responsibilities

  • Contract Drafting & Administration: Prepare, review, and meticulously manage all contracts, subcontracts, and related commercial documents.
  • Correspondence & Notices: Draft all contractual correspondence, formal notices, and essential documentation strictly in line with stipulated contract conditions.
  • Tender & Risk Review: Conduct detailed reviews of tender documents (including Conditions of Contract, Scope of Work, and Specifications) to proactively identify critical commercial and contractual risks.
  • Insurance Management: Ensure the timely arrangement and maintenance of all project insurances (e.g., CAR, WC, P&E), verifying continuous contractual compliance.
  • Claims & Variations: Actively assist in the preparation and substantiation of claims for Extension of Time (EOT), cost claims, and variations (VOs).
  • Compliance & Coordination: Ensure project execution adheres to all legal and regulatory requirements. Coordinate closely with Project Managers, Quantity Surveyors, and Procurement to align contractual obligations.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain a comprehensive and organized system of contract records and correspondence for audit readiness.

Mandatory Requirements (Strictly Required)

Only candidates meeting these essential criteria will be considered:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a closely related field.
  • Experience: 6–10 years of progressive experience in contract administration or as a Contracts Engineer.
  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of FIDIC and other standard forms of contract is essential.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and analytical skills are non-negotiable.
