About the Position:
Department: Accounting
Reports to: CFO
Supervises: AP Specialist, Accounting Intern, Administrative Assistant, Sales Settlement Specialist, Sales & Support Specialist
Purpose:
Managing and oversees accounting activities in alignment with John Deere and Gooseneck policies, procedures, and requirements, while auditing and preparing accurate financial reports and summaries that support informed business decisions. Will assist the accounting department in a way that attracts, retains, and effectively engages talented team members, fostering a productive and committed workforce.
Responsibilities:
- Provides financial guidance and support to senior management by analyzing results, offering recommendations, and identifying opportunities to improve overall performance and operational efficiency.
- Oversees accounting activities to ensure financial information is accurate, timely, and supported by strong internal controls.
- Reviews sales and profit projections against actual results, compares budgeted expenses to actual spending, and recommends improvements to the budget planning process as needed.
- Establishes and maintains internal controls and accounting guidelines to safeguard the integrity of all financial transactions.
- Prepares business activity reports, financial forecasts, annual budgets, and a full range of financial statements and reports, including income statements, balance sheets, tax filings, and regulatory submissions.
- Provides financial reports; ensure that the reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles or financial reporting standards.
- Audits general ledger entries to ensure compliance with state and federal regulations; coordinates with outside auditors and provides needed information for the annual external audit.
- Provide ad-hoc reporting and analytical support to the CFO and senior management as needed.
- Supports the analysis of company operations to uncover opportunities for expense reduction and improved efficiency.
- Assists in the preparation of all financial reports including income statements, balance sheets, reports to stakeholders, tax returns, and reports for governmental regulatory agencies.
- Oversees reconciliation process with applicable John Deere accounts in the general ledger (John Deere statements, rentals, reserve accounts, etc).
- Ensures compliance with local, state, and federal government requirements.
- Provide backup support for various accounting functions, ensuring continuity and accuracy in related financial transactions during periods of absence or peak workload.
- Performs other related duties as necessary or assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting or a related role, with a solid understanding of accounting principles and financial reporting according to GAAP
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with intermediate/advanced Excel skills. Experience with accounting software and ERP systems is a plus.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

- Proven ability to work well with internal and external customers
- Proven supervisory experience, with the ability to lead and mentor a team while promoting a collaborative work environment
