The role

We're looking for an experienced Controller to join our growing team. You'll serve as the financial backbone for our clients — ensuring the integrity of their accounting operations while partnering closely with our FP&A and advisory teams to deliver a truly integrated financial leadership experience.

What you'll do

• Own the full accounting cycle — general ledger, month-end and year-end close, account reconciliations, and financial statement preparation
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable regulatory requirements across client engagements
• Manage and review AP, AR, payroll, and cash management processes
• Develop, document, and enforce internal controls and accounting policies to safeguard client assets
• Oversee and coordinate external audits, reviews, and tax preparation with third-party CPA firms
• Deliver timely, accurate financial reporting packages to client leadership and stakeholders
• Partner with our FP&A team to bridge actuals with forecasts and surface meaningful variances
• Implement and optimize accounting systems and tools — including AI-assisted workflows — to improve close efficiency and data accuracy
• Coach and mentor junior accounting team members, fostering a culture of accuracy, ownership, and continuous improvement
• Support clients through fundraising, due diligence, and strategic finance initiatives as needed

What you bring

• A coaching mindset: you enjoy developing others and building strong processes, not just closing the books
• The ability to build trusted relationships — technical accuracy alone is not financial leadership
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a Controller or Assistant Controller role; client-facing or advisory experience a strong plus
• Deep expertise in GAAP, financial reporting, and internal controls
• Strong experience with accounting systems such as QuickBooks Online, NetSuite, or similar platforms
• Advanced Excel proficiency; experience with reporting tools like Fathom HQ, Power BI, or similar a plus
• Familiarity with AI or automation tools to enhance accounting and close workflows
• Outstanding communication skills — you can translate complex accounting concepts for any audience
• CPA required; Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• Deep curiosity and a drive to stay ahead in a rapidly evolving financial landscape

Compensation & benefits

Pay: $90,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
