JOB SUMMARY

We are looking for a detail-oriented and proactive Controller to oversee the day-to-day financial operations of our organization. This role is critical to maintaining financial health, ensuring compliance, and supporting leadership with timely and accurate reporting. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced environment, takes ownership, and communicates with clarity at all levels of the business.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Manage sales and use tax compliance across applicable jurisdictions, ensuring timely and accurate filings

Oversee annual report filings and all state reporting requirements, maintaining up-to-date knowledge of regulatory obligations

Configure and maintain customer agreements in the billing system, ensuring accurate setup and ongoing alignment with contract terms

Manage monthly agreement billing cycles, including reconciliation of billing records against contracts and resolving discrepancies

Review, calculate, and approve commission payouts, coordinating with relevant teams to ensure accuracy and timeliness

Actively manage and forecast cash flow, identifying risks and opportunities and escalating concerns to leadership

Lead accounts receivable efforts, including aging review, collection follow-up, and prompt communication of collection issues to management

Oversee accounts payable, ensuring timely and accurate processing of vendor invoices and payments

Review and approve biweekly payroll, ensuring accuracy of hours, deductions, and classifications; maintain journal entries related to payroll configuration in the accounting system

Code and sync Ramp expenses to NetSuite on a weekly basis, reviewing receipts and merchant details for accuracy, proper GL coding, and policy compliance

Conduct a monthly P&L review to verify all charges are booked and coded to the correct accounts, investigating and resolving any discrepancies before period close

Audit monthly managed service bills and vendor subscriptions to confirm that offboarded customers have been removed from active billing, no charges are incurred beyond the termination date, and duplicate licensing across software agreements is identified and eliminated, coordinating with relevant teams to escalate findings and reduce unnecessary spend

Perform monthly bank reconciliations across all accounts, ensuring balances align with the general ledger, investigating outstanding items, and resolving discrepancies in a timely manner

Manage a team of direct reports, including setting clear goals and priorities, conducting regular 1:1s and performance reviews, coaching and developing staff, and fostering a collaborative, accountable team culture

Identify, evaluate, and adopt AI tools to streamline accounting workflows and reporting, automate repetitive tasks, and improve overall operational efficiency; train the team on effective and responsible use

OTHER DUTIES

Participates in special projects as required.

Accomplishes all other duties and tasks as appropriately assigned or requested.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

7+ years of accounting experience with demonstrated ownership of compliance, billing, and reporting functions

Strong understanding of accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cash flow management

Familiarity with sales and use tax regulations and multi-state filing requirements

Experience with payroll review and journal entry configuration

Ability to audit vendor billing, identify discrepancies, and manage subscription and licensing costs

High attention to detail with strong organizational and problem-solving skills

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to escalate issues clearly and concisely

Proficiency with accounting software and expense management tools

NetSuite experience (strongly preferred)

Prior management or team leadership experience

Demonstrated experience leveraging AI tools to improve efficiency in finance or accounting operations

Compensation: $120,000–$130,000 base salary, plus eligibility for a $5,000–$10,000 annual performance-based bonus.
